Dickson City Fire Department The Dickson City Fire Department (DCFD) is a 100% volunteer fire department providing fire supression and rescue service to the borough of Dickson City, PA.

The Borough of Dickson City is located in Northeastern Pennsylvania approximately 2 hours to our State Capital (Harrisburg), the City of Philadelphia as well as New York City. Dickson City is bordered by the City of Scranton, the townships of South Abington and Scott, as well as the Boroughs of Blakely, Throop and Olyphant. Our community is approximately 5.2 square miles with a population of just

over 6600 residents. During commercial retail hours the population more than doubles. Our community was primarily of the residential nature until recently when our community began to take on a growth of commercial activity and the now famous Dickson City Commons Retail District. Today Dickson City is one of the fastest growing commercial areas in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

DCFD personnel responded promptly to an animal rescue call this afternoon, leveraging our specialized training to rescue a fawn trapped in a narrow groundhog hole. The operation involved a coordinated effort with multiple agencies to free the fawn, which was pinned under a large rock. Following successful extrication by DCFD members, the PA Game Warden, Dickson DPW employees, the fawn was handed over to the Game Warden. We are committed to caring for all lives, great and small. Given the extended duration of the fawn's entrapment, its survival prospects are uncertain; nonetheless, our actions afforded it a possibility of rescue.

Eagle Hose Co #1 recently participated in comprehensive fire ground survival training, completing RIT scenarios, which simulated rescuing a downed firefighter in a confined space and executing ladder bailout procedures. We thank the Scranton Fire Department for access to their training trailer, enhancing our skill set.
