Dear Dexter Residents, it is with great pleasure to announce that Officer Jared Grinnell has graduated from the 49th Basic Law Enforcement Training Program at the Maine Criminal Justice Academy.

Officer Grinnell graduated in the top part of his class at the Academy. Officer Grinnell went through extensive and rigorous training throughout the 18 week program. He represented the Town of Dexter and the Dexter Police Department very well, and we should all be extremely proud to have such a fine young man and a well trained officer. Let it be known MCJA is one of the finest police Academies in the country.

Officer Grinnell had his family in attendance as well as numerous members of the Dexter Police Department. Officer Grinnell will be back on shift very soon patrolling the streets of Dexter. All of us at the Dexter Police Department want to congratulate him on his hard earned and well deserved achievement.

I would like to reach out all the way up to Piscataquis County for those that participated in the Law Enforcement Torch Run in support of the Special Olympics.

The Dexter Police Department took custody of the torch in the town of Dover-Foxcroft and ran it through the towns of Dexter, Corinna and Newport. I would like to recognize the Tri County Technical Center in Dexter for their students participation. Still with lots of energy we met up with Newport pd and their fire department as we continued through the rotary and onto Main Street.

As we ran with the torch we had cheers in every town standing roadside. I would like to thank everybody that came out to support us and what a great time we all had for this awesome cause on this gorgeous day. It's a beautiful thing seeing all the communities coming together! ❤️

Rain or shine what a wonderful morning in Dexter! "The Dexter Regional High School 3rd Annual Color Run"

The fun-run was a great connection within our community in a very colorful way as you can tell with the photos below.

All sponsorships and proceeds for this event will be donated to the HMRC located right here in Dexter.

This serves the communities of Dexter, Ripley, Garland, and Exeter and provides food assistance, counseling, and mental health resources, low-no cost home repairs, etc.

This fun-run/walk took place throughout our town. The runners were sprayed at a color station as they proceeded to the end of the 5k. Some shirts were provided (look at those colors).

Our school resource officer Allen Drew of the Dexter Police Department had a blast with all involved. I want to thank everybody that participated in this event!

Dear Dexter Residents, we are proud once again to participate in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for the Special Olympics here in Maine.

Thursday, June 4, 2026
Approximately 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Runners will travel from the Dexter / Dover town line on Route 7 through Dexter, then through Corinna and into Newport as part of this wonderful statewide event.

Motorists are asked to use caution and expect short delays along the route during this time.

If you happen to be along our route of travel, we would love your support to cheer on our runners and show your support for Special Olympics Maine!

Thank you to our community for supporting this amazing cause and helping make a difference for athletes across Maine!

Today, Maine lost one of it's best. I was saddened to hear about the passing of our local Game Warden pilot Joshua Tibbetts. I remembered him fondly from his days as a dedicated deputy sheriff in our area, I always felt proud seeing him flying for the Warden Service. Thank you for protecting our community and our great outdoors. My condolences go out to his family, friends and the Maine Warden Service. Rest easy friend you'll never be forgotten. ❤️

" 2026 Hooked on Fishing Event "

What a beautiful day for another successful Hooked on Fishing Event with the 4th graders from the Ridge View Community School. It gets the kids outside out of the classroom and promotes great outdoor recreation. 🎣

I would like to thank all the sponsors and volunteers and our awesome School Resource Officer Allen Drew for making this event a success. I would also like to thank the homeowners that allowed the use of their private pond. (The kids had a blast!)

There was a lot of fish caught and a lot of smiles on the kiddos faces on this two day event.
