🚑❤️ CPR & AED Awareness Week ❤️🚑

This week, we recognize the importance of CPR and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) awareness and education. In a cardiac emergency, immediate action can mean the difference between life and death.

When someone experiences sudden cardiac arrest, every second counts. Early recognition, calling 911, starting high-quality CPR, and using an AED as quickly as possible can dramatically increase a person’s chance of survival.

CPR and AED use aren’t just skills for healthcare professionals—they are lifesaving tools that anyone can learn. We encourage everyone in our community to take the time to become trained and prepared. You never know when you may be the person who makes a difference for a family member, friend, coworker, or neighbor.

Together, through education, preparedness, and community involvement, we can help save lives.

Did you know?

A child can drown in as little as 2 inches of water and in complete silence.

Your SCAD team wants every family to know the facts:

🔴 Drowning can be silent and fast. Call 911 immediately. Begin CPR if trained don’t wait for us to arrive.

🟡 Secondary Drowning Symptoms can appear hours after a water incident: coughing, fatigue, behavior changes. When in doubt, get checked out.

🟢 Near-Drowning Always seek medical evaluation, even if the person seems fine.

🏊 Prevention saves lives:

✔ eyes on the water at ALL times
✔ Swim lessons for every child
✔ Life jackets on open water, every time
✔ CPR training for every family

Today, U.S. Senator Eric Schmitt stopped by the City of Advance to tour the new water system and treatment plant, as well as the newly refurbished Bank of Advance Sports Complex.

During his visit, he took a moment to stop and personally thank two of our own crew members Lacie and Steven, recognizing all men and women who serve in emergency care daily.

We’re grateful to Senator Schmitt for taking the time to recognize our crews and for caring about the people and infrastructure that keep rural America strong.

Thank you, Senator Schmitt for spending part of your day with us!

Today, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice is the reason we enjoy the freedoms we have today.

We also recognize the families carrying the weight of that sacrifice every day.

As we serve our communities this Memorial Day, we do so with gratitude, respect, and remembrance.

May we never forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice. 🇺🇸🚑
