⚡ LIGHTNING SAFETY REMINDER ⚡

Did you know that lightning can strike up to 10 miles away from a storm? If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.

🌩️ When thunder roars, go indoors!

Lightning Safety Tips:

✅ Move inside a substantial building or hard-topped vehicle immediately.
✅ Avoid open fields, playgrounds, and bodies of water.
✅ Stay away from trees, poles, and metal objects.
✅ Wait at least 30 minutes after the last clap of thunder before returning outdoors.

Every year, lightning causes serious injuries and fatalities across the United States.

Protect yourself, your family, and your friends by taking thunderstorms seriously.

Happy Father’s Day!

Today, we celebrate all fathers, stepfathers, grandfathers, father figures, mentors, and the men who lead, guide, and support their families and communities every day.

A special thank you goes out to all the dads who are spending Father’s Day at work especially our first responders, healthcare workers, dispatchers, military personnel, and others who are serving their communities and providing for their families.

Whether you’re spending the day with
family, remembering a father who is no longer with us, or called to serve others, we honor and appreciate you.

Would like to extend a big thank you to Chuck, Tyler and the entire team at the Stoddard County Ambulance District for providing the Coroner’s office with a Stryker Power Cot. This equipment will be beneficial in the field for all Stoddard County first responders. Grateful for the generosity and support of our outstanding Ambulance District. I appreciate all you do for our community!

🚗☀️ Hot Cars Can Turn Deadly in Minutes ☀️🚗

As temperatures rise, it’s important to remember that children should never be left unattended in a vehicle not even for a minute.

On a warm day, the temperature inside a parked car can increase by 20 degrees or more in just 10 minutes, even with the windows cracked.

A child’s body heats up 3 to 5 times faster than an adult’s, putting them at risk for heatstroke, brain injury, and death.

🔹 Always check the back seat before locking your vehicle.
🔹 Place your purse, phone, or work bag in the back seat as a reminder.
🔹 Keep vehicles locked when not in use to prevent children from climbing inside.
🔹 If you see a child alone in a vehicle, call 911 immediately.

☀️🚰 Summer Safety Reminder: Watch Out for Hot Water Hoses! 🚰☀️

As temperatures rise, garden hoses left in the sun can heat water to surprisingly high temperatures. Water sitting inside a hose can become hot enough to cause discomfort or even minor burns, especially to children, older adults, and pets.

Before using a hose for drinking, filling pools, water play, or cooling off:

✅ Let the water run for a minute or two until it feels cool.
✅ Always test the water temperature with your hand first.
✅ Never allow children or pets to drink directly from a hose before testing the temperature.
✅ Keep hoses stored in shaded areas when possible.

A few seconds of caution can help prevent injuries and keep everyone safe while enjoying the summer weather.
