The Dexter Police Department wants our community to be aware of Take It Down, a free service provided by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).

If a n**e, partially n**e, or explicit image or video was taken of you when you were under 18 and has been shared online—or you’re worried it may be shared—Take It Down can help stop or limit its spread.

The service creates a unique digital fingerprint, called a hash, of the image or video directly from your device. The image itself does NOT leave your device, and you do not have to provide personal information. Participating online platforms can then use that fingerprint to identify copies and take action to remove or limit the content.

Parents, please consider talking with your children and teens about this resource. Young people may be afraid/embarrassed to tell someone when an intimate image has been shared, but there are resources available to help.

The Outdoor Warning Sirens in Advance, Bell City, Bloomfield, Dudley, Essex, Puxico, Hidden Trails Country Club, Chalk Bluff Cemetery, and the Missouri Veterans Cemetery will be tested at 10:00 am today, September2, 2026.

In the event of an active firefighting emergency in or near these locations or a threat of Severe Weather at the time of the test, it will be postponed until a later date.

...EXTREME HEAT WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM CDT /9 PM EDT/
SATURDAY...

* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with peak daily heat index values
103 to 109 degrees; actual maximum air temperatures will range from
95 to 101 degrees daily!

* WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...Until 8 PM CDT /9 PM EDT/ Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during
extreme heat and high humidity events.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...This week of extreme and dangerous heat shows
no signs of abating. Climatologically extreme high forecast
temperatures a good 10 to 15 degrees above their seasonal normals
will combine with the effects of humidity to increasingly make this
week a dangerous period of prolonged heat. Heat index values hit
triple digits every day and may top out up to 109 degrees. Actual
air temperatures reach to near or even above 100 degrees multiple
days in a row. Numerous nights might have warm record overnight low
temperatures in the mid 70s as well, so there is really no
significant break offered from the heat as we head into the holiday
weekend and all the numerous activities and outdoor events that may
be planned.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

Stay cool, stay hydrated, stay informed.

EVENING...

* WHAT...For the Heat Advisory, heat index values up to 103 expected.
For the Extreme Heat Watch, dangerously hot conditions with heat
index values up to 107 possible.

* WHERE...Portions of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...For the Heat Advisory, from 10 AM CDT /11 AM EDT/ Monday to
10 AM CDT /11 AM EDT/ Tuesday. For the Extreme Heat Watch, from
Tuesday morning through Friday evening.

* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during
extreme heat and high humidity events. Hot temperatures and high
humidity may cause heat illnesses.

A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT SOUTHWESTERN WAYNE COUNTY UNTIL
845 AM CDT...

At 756 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 7
miles north of Williamsville, or 6 miles southwest of Greenville,
moving southeast at 25 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and penny size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is
possible.

Locations impacted include...
Greenville, Lake Wappapello State Park, Williamsville, Shook and
Wappapello.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Monitor the weather situation closely and be alert for threatening
weather conditions.

unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is
possible.

tornado was located 6 miles south of Canalou, or 7 miles northwest
of Lilbourn, moving east at 40 mph.

HAZARD...Tornado.

SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage
to roofs, windows and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is
likely.

* Locations impacted include...
New Madrid, Hunter-Dawson State Historic Site, Farrenburg and North
Lilbourn.

Move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a well-built building
