Last night we hosted our third annual night fights. Teams traveled from all over Iowa to compete.

A big thank you to everyone that traveled from close and far, made time to participate, and brought competitive but positive attitudes!

Women’s results:
1st place- Tera Cross (Newell)
2nd place- Jess Visser (Earlham)
3rd place- Amber Canfield (Dexter)

Men’s results:
1st place- Brady McClenathan (Malcom)
2nd place- Stephen Martinson (Stuart)
3rd place- Trey Cappel (Atlantic)

We hope to see all of you back next year and bring your friends!

🚨 Active Threat Training Exercise 🚨
Dallas County Emergency Management, in partnership with local first responders and Dexter Community Schools, will be conducting a planned active threat training exercise at Dexter Elementary School.
Residents may notice an increased presence of law enforcement, fire, EMS, and other emergency response personnel in and around the school during the exercise.
This is only a planned training exercise. There is no threat to the public.
Exercises like these allow responders and school staff to practice coordinated response procedures in a controlled environment, strengthening preparedness and improving response during real emergencies.

Thank You to West Des Moines Fire Department for creating this enlightening video.
The cost of this equipment is the same for volunteer and career Firefighters. It has become very difficult for most rural volunteer departments to keep their staff outfitted in proper safety gear that meets current standards.
Add to that the cost of purchasing/maintaining the necessary fleet of trucks, building and maintaining a station, purchasing/maintaining the equipment to fill SCBA tanks, gear rack lockers for each firefighter, other tools, hose, nozzles, fire station utilities, etc.
It becomes easy to realize that even small rural departments are not cheap to keep properly funded for fully operational capability.
Smaller communities can’t maintain the tax base needed to fully fund their fire departments.
This is why we appreciate the wonderful support of our citizens and citizens from surrounding communities during our fundraisers!

🚒💦 DEXTER FIRE & RESCUE ANNUAL NIGHT WATERFIGHTS! 💦🚒

Get your crew together and get ready to battle it out at the Dexter Fire & Rescue Annual Night Waterfights on Saturday, August 22nd!

👩‍🚒 WOMEN’S WATERFIGHT
⏰ Starts at 8:30 PM
👥 Capped at 24 participants

👨‍🚒 MEN’S WATERFIGHT
⏰ Starts following the women’s event
👥 Capped at 32 participants

🔥 REQUIREMENTS
Men: Helmet, coat, pants & boots required
Women: Helmet & coat required

💪 RULES
• Men can back women.
• All fights will have 4 on the line, but participants do not have to be from the same department.
• 2-minute rounds
• 1.75” hose
