🌱 Help us welcome Kasey, the City of Dexter's new Recreation Coordinator! Kasey will be leading our Community Garden and spearheading the Dexter Farmers Market this season-and we couldn't be more excited to have her on the team. Follow along this summer with the City of Dexter Farmers Market City of Dexter Community Garden

Get to know her a little better below! 👇

**What first drew you to working with food, community gardens, or farmers markets?**

Growing up, my mom always had a small garden and supported local farmers. In college I worked as a line cook and earned my B.S. in Community Health Education. While earning my degree I had the opportunity to work with education programs teaching kids about where their food comes from, wrote grants for a large garden project for a senior living community, and volunteered at local farmers markets. As an adult I have been an avid farmers market shopper-and I have my own large garden! I am so excited to use all of my past experience to spearhead the 20th Dexter Farmers Market and work alongside all of the community gardeners this season.

**Do you have a garden at home?**

I have a garden at home that seems to get bigger every year! My daughter and I love to grow all kinds of things: peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, butter beans, several squash varieties, blueberries, strawberries, herbs, potatoes, carrots, flowers-and this year I am trying my hand at loofahs!

**What's your favorite thing to buy at a farmers market?**

I love to buy specialty produce items, fun bread flavors, and locally raised meat and eggs.

**What can the Dexter community look forward to this season?**

This year I am planning several special events and demos from some incredible pop-up vendors for the Dexter community to enjoy free of charge! There will also be kids' crafts and raffle baskets featuring items from Dexter businesses the community knows and loves. Please subscribe to the farmers market email newsletter and follow us on Facebook to stay up to date on all the fun things happening throughout the season!

**If you could add one dream vendor to the Dexter Farmers Market, what would it be?**

This is such a hard question! If I had to pick just one, it would be Kapnick Orchards. They have a wide variety of delicious fruit that would be so amazing to have available for patrons of the Dexter Farmers Market!

🥕 Come say hello to Kasey at the market starting in May- and drop a warm welcome in the comments below!
