On Tuesday, July 28, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., the DeWitt Fire Department and local police will conduct a planned safety training exercise at Scott Elementary School.

This is a scheduled training exercise. There is no cause for concern.
During the exercise:
โ€ข ๐Ÿšซ Scott Elementary will be closed to the public.
โ€ข ๐Ÿšซ The parking lots will be closed.
โ€ข ๐Ÿšซ Please avoid the playground and school grounds during this time.

You may notice emergency vehicles and first responders on site as they participate in the training.

We appreciate your cooperation and thank our local first responders for their continued partnership in helping keep our schools and community safe.

Today DeWitt Area Fire was dispatched to a service call for a cat stuck in the homeowners duct work. Upon further investigation, we determined where the cat was and successfully extricated the cat with very minimal property damage. When our communities need us we will always be there no matter what the call may be!

Tonight, we had the honor of recognizing Jonah Richards for successfully completing his probationary period and officially receiving his firefighter badge.

This milestone reflects Jonah's hard work, dedication, and commitment to serving our community. We are proud to have him as a member of our department and look forward to watching his continued growth and success.

Effective Tuesday morning, July 14, Airport Road between Clark Road and I-69 will be closed for construction. Access to I-69 will remain available via Ernest Way through Wednesday, July 22. Beginning on that date, the I-69 ramps will also be closed. Access to businesses and residences within the construction zone will be maintained throughout the project.

Please refer to the attached map for detour routes and additional traffic information.

Last night at our DAESA board meeting we promoted FF Brendan Burke to Lt Brendan Burke.

Brendan came to our department almost 4 years ago with a lot of knowledge and ambition. He has taken the time out of his busy schedule to offer up ideas, and help our new members with trainings and skills to become firefighters. This past spring DeWitt Area Fire celebrated the year of multiple accomplishments. We had several members earn the โ€œHeavy Hitters Award for their dedication to serving and protecting their communities!

Training in Progress

The Dewitt Area Fire Department will be conducting training this evening on the corner of Dill Drive and Bridge Street.

Residents may notice smoke or fog in the area as firefighters simulate fire conditions for search and rescue training exercises. This is a planned training event, and there is no cause for concern.
