VFW Memorial Day Parade & City Hall Closure. The VFW Memorial Day Parade will be held on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25th beginning at 10 AM. The parade will start at 206 W Washington St., and end at the City Cemetery. Join in by honoring those who have served our country and paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

City Hall will be closed on Monday, May 25th in observance of Memorial Day.

Police will be on duty although the office will be closed. If you need the police/fire department/ambulance, please call 911.

🚨 NEW Yard Waste Service Update for City of DeWitt Residents 🚨

Granger is now offering NEW yard waste carts for seasonal curbside yard waste collection! 🍂🌿. Residents who would like to receive a new yard waste cart at no charge, must request one directly through Granger using the link below. For Facebook users, the link will also be posted in the comments.

Important reminders:

✅ Weekly seasonal yard waste collection runs April–November

✅ Residents may still use brown paper yard waste bags if they do not want a cart

❌Effective September 1st Personal “X” yard waste bins, trash cans, or other containers will NO LONGER be accepted by Granger for yard-waste collection

✅ Yard waste must either be placed in the Granger yard waste cart or in approved brown paper yard waste bags

Service also includes up to four paper yard waste bags, four small bundles, or a combination of four items each week.

Please place yard waste at the curb the night before your collection day.

At Monday’s City Council meeting, Mayor Leeming proudly presented the DeWitt High School Panthers Football Team with a Resolution of Congratulation in recognition of their 2025 Division III State Championship victory.

The resolution, signed by the Mayor and all members of City Council, honors the team’s outstanding dedication, discipline, and sportsmanship throughout an exceptional season, as well as the leadership of their coaching staff and the unwavering support from families and the DeWitt community. Two Dogs Found

Area of North Scott Street. The City of DeWitt Police Department has located two loose dogs in the area of North Scott Street. One dog has been captured by Animal Control, and the other is currently secured in a nearby backyard. The attached photo is of one of the dogs. Brush Pick-up

Begins Tomorrow 4/13. Please place all brush curbside by 7:00 A.M. on Monday, April 13th. Pick-up will conclude on April 17th, but if there is additional brush to collect, it will continue into the following week.

Brush is required to be placed curbside, neatly stacked, with the large ends towards the street. Brush between 2″ and 8″ in diameter is accepted. Shrubs with roots still attached are not accepted. The City asks that you leave the brush in as large pieces as possible so that City employees can safely feed it into the brush chipper. Streets will be covered one time only. All brush must be curbside before 7:00 A.M. on the Monday of pick-up
