Devils Lake Basin Joint Water Resource Board The Devils Lake Basin Joint Board represents 8 counties in North Eastern North Dakota dealing with water management issues in the DL Basin.

The Devils Lake Basin Joint Board is necessary for a coordinated and cooperative approach to water management in the Devils Lake Basin…it was recognized by the water resource districts of the Devils Lake Basin that one entity representing the entire Devils Lake Basin would better represent the area concerning planning and implementation of a complete water management plan for the Basin, and that one entity could better represent the entire Devils Lake Basin in dealings with the federal, state and other local governments.

August 1st, 2026 lake levels and coulee flows for the DL Basin area. The drier conditions in July contributed to reduced flows in the coulees, and we may have reached our peak lake level for the year concerning Devils Lake. On January 1st, the lake level was 1448.81 feet, and it rose to 1450.50 feet on July 20th, which represents approximately 362,565 acre-feet of inflows. Please note that these figures are early, unofficial estimates; official numbers will be calculated at a later date.
