Thanks to the Rocket community and everyone who supported Alternatives For Girls during the Rocket Community Challenge, our community raised $3,401!!! 🎉

That number represents more than dollars. It represents people choosing to stand with young women, children, and families who deserve safety, support, and the opportunity to build a brighter future.

To everyone who donated, shared our story, encouraged others, or simply cheered us on: thank you.

One community can change what is possible.
Thank YOU for being our community. 💜

Walk a Mile with us on September 9th!

This is a fun community event where you will have the opportunity to walk a mile with Chief Todd A. Bettison and the 3rd Precinct around the neighborhood.

We will gather at AFG at 5:30 PM and step off at 6 PM, walking through the neighborhood for 1 mile.

We will end at AFG with resources, food, and fun! We hope to see you there!

Women supporting women. 💜

A huge thank you to Ladies In Vettes LLC for their generous $500 gift to Alternatives For Girls!

Ladies In Vettes is more than a community built around a love of Corvettes. It is about connection, confidence, empowerment, and sisterhood. Each year, women from various Corvette clubs come together to give back and support organizations serving women in their community.

We are incredibly grateful they chose to support AFG and the girls and young women we serve. Thank you, Ladies In Vettes, for turning your passion into purpose and helping create opportunities for women and girls to thrive.

We appreciate you!

We are excited for the return of Tarik Skubal tonight in Detroit. Although, he will be in a different uniform, you can count on us cheering him on.

“Alternatives for Girls is incredibly grateful to Tarik and Jessica Skubal for their steadfast commitment to the girls and young women we serve. They understand that the young people who come through our doors are often facing unimaginable circumstances, including domestic violence, human trafficking, homelessness, and other profound challenges.

Through their generosity and partnership, the Skubals are helping provide something every young woman deserves: hope, healing, and the opportunity for a brighter future. Their support helps create a higher quality of life for the girls and young women we serve and, just as importantly, reminds them that they are not alone — that there are people who believe in them, care about their futures and are standing beside them every step of the way.”

Skubal's work with Alternatives for Girls, a wondrous Detroit effort, is but one example why he twice was the Tigers’ nominee for MLB's Roberto Clemente Award.

🎉🎉Today is the LAST DAY of the Rocket Community Challenge!🎉🎉

When you support Alternatives For Girls, you become part of a community helping girls and young women change what comes next.

You can help a young woman find a safe place to call home. You can help her access education, build new skills, prepare for a career, and take steps toward lasting independence.

Because changing a story takes more than one person. It takes a community willing to come together and say, we believe in what is possible for you.

There is still time to be part of that community.

Support AFG before the Rocket Community Challenge ends today at 4:59 p.m. ET.

It’s amazing what can happen when we work together.

After a man experiencing homelessness tragically died outside Cass Tech, students came together and decided to make a difference. They raised more than $40,000 for four local nonprofits, and we are incredibly grateful that Alternatives For Girls was chosen as one of them.

It’s not every day that you see teenagers come together to raise more than $40,000 for their community. But what inspires us most isn’t just the amount they raised. It’s the compassion, leadership, and determination behind it.

The students of Cass Tech saw a need and chose to be part of the change they wanted to see.

Thank you, Cass Tech, for supporting AFG and for reminding all of us just how much is possible when a community comes together.

Cass Tech students raised over $40,000 for Detroit homeless nonprofits after a man was found dead outside their school earlier this year.
