Mothering Justice

Mothering Justice We are a black woman-led, grassroots advocacy and leadership development org that inspires mamas of color to take action on US policy change.

What we believe

-Workplace policies should respect the family responsibilities of each worker
-Love defines families and every family should be recognized in the eyes of the law
-Mothers should be able to choose how and where they give birth and society should respect the needs of a nursing mother

We are activist mothers and supporters who are well-equipped to advocate for ourselves and our fami

lies, and legislators who are responsive to needs of mothers (and best case scenario, mothers who are legislators!)

We take connecting with mamas, families and our community very seriously — with the goal of knocking over 50,000 doors to be exact!

We take pride in our organizing and canvassing team, and the leadership of our Deputy Director of Organizing Courtney Blake Sims, as they are out there tirelessly knocking on doors every day, directly having conversations with our community and asking them the issues affecting their lives the most these days.

Our Spring Canvas has officially kicked off — make sure to keep an eye out for the Mothering Justice team in your neighborhood, and don’t forget to mark our June Cocoa Conversations in your calendar! ✨👏

Every mama deserves care that sees them, supports them, and protects them.

During Black Maternal Health Week, we’re creating space for Black mamas with disabilities to share their stories, experiences, and solutions for improving maternal health outcomes. This space is designed to uplift lived experiences, share knowledge, and deepen community understanding around the unique challenges and strengths of Black mothers with disabilities.

Black history is still being written… and we’re telling it through Black HERstory. ✊🏾✨

In this new video series, we’re honoring the legacy of pioneering Black women whose courage, leadership, and brilliance have shaped our communities and our movements. These are the stories that inspire us, ground us, and remind us what’s possible when Black women lead.

Join us as we uplift the voices, victories, and visions of the women who paved the way. Because our history deserves to be told — and remembered. 🖤

Stay tuned for the first story in our series.
