A baker with heart. ๐ŸŽ‚๐Ÿ’™ We are so grateful for McKenzie Kenrick of Kitch by Kenz, who has become a cherished partner to Covenant House Michigan. It all started when Kenz reached out with a simple offer: she wanted to create a Barbie Swan Lake-inspired cake and donate it to bring joy to our youth.

That one cake sparked something more. Kenz launched her "Bake the World a Better Place" series, choosing Covenant House as the first beneficiary. But she didn't stop at baking. She used her platform to activate her audience, sharing our Amazon wish list and inspiring her community to pour into our youth. At Ladies Night, Kenz brought a stunning cake and helped create an evening of beauty, self-care, and sisterhood for our young women.

Her talent and heart extend beyond the kitchen. Kenz has created two videos featuring Covenant House, including her Barbie Swan Lake-inspired cake video, which reached over 5.8 million views. She uses her platform to share behind-the-scenes moments, baking tips, and the reality of running a creative business, and along the way, she brought millions of eyes to our mission.

Thank you, Kenz, for your talent, heart, and belief that joy matters. And this isn't the end. She'll be back soon for Sleep Out. Stay tuned. ๐Ÿ’™

The Aftercare Closet is taking shape! ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ ๐Ÿ’™

As a continuation of their Serve Day in June, The Gathering Church returned to our Detroit campus to complete a wall build that is a significant part of our developing Aftercare Closet space.

Their team has been instrumental in transforming how we organize and store donations, helping us serve residents and community members more efficiently while creating a more welcoming and dignified experience for those accessing essential resources.

Thank you, Gathering Church, for returning to finish what you started and for your ongoing commitment to our youth and our mission.

A night of beauty, self-care, and sisterhood. ๐Ÿ’„๐Ÿ’™

We recently welcomed young women from our Detroit campus to Ladies Night, an evening designed just for them. The event featured interactive beauty and skincare stations, a "Girl Talk" session led by CNS Healthcare - Michigan partners, and practical period and menstrual health tips from our on-campus nurse practitioner.

Residents also shopped in our Clothing Closet with a stylist, received bra fittings from volunteers with I Support the Girls - Detroit, and enjoyed a stunning cake from Kitch by Kenz, aka McKenzie Kenrick, an inspiring local baker and creative entrepreneur.

The goal was simple: create a comfortable, supportive space where our young women could explore wellness, build confidence, and simply enjoy an evening of connection. We are grateful to our community partners and volunteers for helping us make it happen!

Bowling, darts, good food, and even better company. ๐ŸŽณ๐Ÿ’™

Recently, our Wellness Committee, Tracy Hill, Gail Burton, Katricia Gray, Stephanie Taylor, and Kim Davis, hosted an Employee Appreciation Event at Corktown Taphouse. Our team came together for an afternoon of bowling, darts, delicious food, ArtPrize prep, and plenty of laughter.

It was a joy to see our dedicated staff relax, connect, and simply enjoy each other's company. Thank you to our Wellness Committee for creating space for fellowship and fun. We are so grateful for this team.

A special experience for a generous supporter. ๐ŸŽ™๏ธ๐Ÿ’™

Recently, Covenant House donor Brian joined Mitch Albom on his radio show, an experience he won through the auction at A Night of Detroit Stars. Mitch generously donated the experience and a book collection to support our mission. Our CEO, Meagan Dunn, joined Brian to thank Mitch and celebrate his commitment to our youth.

We are grateful to Mitch Albom for his generosity, to Brian for his support, and to the team at the Fisher Building and WJR Radio for hosting this special moment.

Where youth dream big and take flight. ๐Ÿš€

Recently, five of our residents, Martino, Raoul, Jayae, Jamauri, and Antonio, joined Tracy Hill, Director of Clinical & Supportive Services, at the 8th Annual Detroit Youth Summit, hosted by LIFE Leaders Inc. at MLK High School. The event brought together Detroit youth ages 14โ€“24 and local changemakers for candid conversations on entrepreneurship, AI innovation, careers of the future, and civic engagement.

Our residents connected directly with community leaders, explored leadership programs and employment opportunities, and enjoyed food, activities, and raffles. We are proud to see our youth stepping into spaces where they can envision their futures and take the lead.

Today is Be An Angel Day. ๐Ÿ‘ผ๐Ÿ’™
Created in 1993 to inspire generosity and empathy, this day is a reminder to act with kindness, love, and selflessness, the qualities that make a real difference in someone's life.

For the young people we serve, being an angel means showing them they are not alone. That they are seen and valued. That there is hope for their future, no matter what they've faced.

How to be an angel today:
โ–ช๏ธSend a message of hope
โ–ช๏ธSpread the word
โ–ช๏ธMake a donation to support youth experiencing homelessness
