On August 11, 2026, the Duncanville Police Department responded to the area of South Cockrell Hill Road and East Highway 67 regarding a report of shots fired during a road rage incident. The caller reported that a man driving a Tesla fired a handgun at him while they were stopped at an intersection. The suspect’s actions not only placed the caller in danger, but also put numerous motorists and citizens in the area at risk. Fortunately, neither the caller nor any other motorists were injured during the incident.

Duncanville Detectives immediately began investigating the shooting. Through witness statements, investigative leads, and the use of Automated License Plate Readers (ALPRs), detectives identified the suspected driver of the Tesla, and shooter, as 42-year-old Kevin Gray of Garland.

On September 3, 2026, Duncanville Patrol Officers and Detectives again utilized ALPR technology to locate Gray. Officers took him into custody without incident in Dallas. Gray has been charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. This arrest is another example of the outstanding work performed by the men and women of the Duncanville Police Department. From the initial response to the follow-up investigation and eventual arrest, our Patrol and Criminal Investigations personnel worked together to identify and apprehend a suspect accused of putting innocent lives at risk.

The Duncanville Police Department remains committed to protecting our community and holding accountable those who endanger the lives of others.

We thank our community for its continued support and partnership as we work together to keep Duncanville safe.
