My Story
In 2000, I began leading runs up Berdoo Canyon Road for Explorerforum.com and Off-Road.com. I then became a member of JustRuns4WD club of San Diego and later Rubicon Owners of California Club (ROC Club) in 2004. I continued to lead runs up Berdoo Canyon Road to Old Dale Road, Gold Crown Road and the many spur trails connecting the three. For example, an excellent trail named, “Rockhouse Jeep Trail” that was closed in 2001 was visited by my friends and I maybe 10 or 15 times over the course of 3 years, but is sadly only open to mountain bike riders and hikers.
It is now 2020 - a new decade and a new era for me as I have a new Jeep Gladiator Rubicon! Originally, I had a problematic 1994 Ford Ranger pickup that I sold after buying my 2003 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. Now, I have all the comforts I could want in a rugged Rubicon package - complete with 38” Patagonia MTs, 4.5” of EVO lift, Fox monotube shocks, Steer Smarts steering and hopefully more upgrades coming in the near future. I still enjoy trips up Berdoo Canyon Road with friends and family while getting away from the monotony of my day to day existence. I also lead runs into Baja California on occasion when money and timing is right for the large expanses of desert just south of our border.
