Richard Laff bought the store in 1974 but the name remained Perkins Store ,as it does today.The reason was explained by Charles “Our property used to go quite a bit to the east of the present location..and ,as you know, the river bank and then the road and then the store,they’re all together.We kept giving the county a piece of the property to build the road when it got washed out.So we finally told them “By Golly , you’re going to have to put in rip-rap or something in there because there isn’t any more.We can’t cut the store. You’re going to have to protect the river bank “ Finally they were advised to get easement from the county.The easement read that it would remain in force as long as the property was in the name of Perkins brothers.”So that’s why the name stays”
