Maine Township homeowners can file a property tax appeal through July 15, 2026.

To ensure all appeals are submitted on time, the Township's July 15 deadline allows the Assessor's Office sufficient time to review and forward paperwork to the Cook County Assessor before the county's July 21 deadline.

Need help filing an appeal? Maine Township offers a free property tax appeal service. Simply complete the 2026 Assessor Appeal Intake Form, and return it by email to [email protected] or drop it off at the Township office.

The City of Des Plaines is updating its Sustainability Plan to help improve environmental quality, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and prepare our community for future climate challenges. 🌎

Residents are invited to attend a Public Sustainability Plan Workshop on Monday, June 8, from 6:00–8:00 PM at City Council Chambers. City staff and consultants will provide an overview of the planning process, share the City's emissions audit, and gather community feedback to help shape the plan's final recommendations.

Can't make it? You can still share your input by taking the community sustainability survey, available through June 22.

I’m grateful that we have such incredible organizations in Des Plaines that come together to help those in need.

A big kudos and THANK YOU to the Des Plaines Lions Club!!

Representatives of the Des Plaines Lions Club and District 1-F Lions of Illinois were honored to present $3,000 in Visa gift cards to officials from the City of Des Plaines Government. These will be given to the families displaced by the horrific fire on Harding Avenue on May 6th to help them with any immediate needs.

Early this morning, shortly before 1 a.m., Des Plaines Firefighters responded to an explosion and fire at a three-story apartment building in the 1200 block of Harding Avenue.

Crews, working with mutual aid partners, quickly rescued residents from balconies and provided medical care. Five people were transported to hospitals with injuries.

The fire is now under control. Firefighters remain on scene assisting displaced residents while the cause is under investigation.
