Wrapping up another week of legislative session, I was happy to meet with many groups to discuss some of the most important issues and topics facing Illinois today.
• I first met with advocates from Equality Illinois this week, to discuss initiatives that elevate the voices of our LGBTQ+ community and tackle any systemic challenges that are in the way of equality.
• I stopped by the Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream and the Illinois Network for Pretrial Justice pop-up at the Capital, where we shared a treat, and discussed ways in which we can support those awaiting trial, and ensure our pretrial system is equitable.
• I met with wonderful directors and staff from the Early Childhood Alliance of Niles Township. They’re a collaboration of over 45 child-care providers, home visiting programs and more. They work hard to increase access to programming and support professional development opportunities for early childhood educators. They do an amazing job supporting children in the 28th District!
• The work done by the Illinois Lyme Association and the Illinois Extension on Tick Prevention is so important to protecting the health of Illinoisans. In 2023, I passed legislation to raise awareness on Lyme Disease. Thank you for all your help and everything you do to spread safety to our residents
