Another month, another chance to celebrate 50 years of GENCenter!

Our $15,000 Anniversary Raffle is part of a milestone year honoring the members, volunteers, and partners who have shaped our community. Here’s what you need to know:

▪️ Tickets: $100 each
▪️ Grand Prize: $15,000 cash
▪️ Drawing Date: August 15, 2026

Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, when federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, two years after the Emancipation Proclamation, to enforce Abraham Lincoln’s order to end slavery in the rebelling state farthest west

It’s been observed as a day to honor this history and celebrate Black culture and resilience, and it officially became a federal holiday in 2021.

In observance of the holiday, our office will be closed on June 19th. We’ll be back on Monday, June 22nd. We hope you have a meaningful and joyful Juneteenth!

Everything GENCenter does is rooted in our mission to enhance the lives of active older adults, their families, and young people through connection, wellness, lifelong learning, support, and volunteerism. We do so with the intent to strengthen communities by serving as a welcoming place for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy social, recreational, educational and intergenerational activities that reduce isolation, foster meaningful relationships, and encourage healthy lifestyles.

Through our programs and initiatives focused on supporting older adults (and their family members) who choose to age in place, we strive to prevent isolation and support positive aging. The work we do is driven by a commitment to connection, wellness, lifelong learning, support and volunteerism.
