Another round of strong storms expected today.
⚠️ MONDAY SEVERE WEATHER UPDATE FOR IOWA ⚠️
The main concern today is another round of severe weather expected later this afternoon and tonight. The atmosphere across parts of Iowa is expected to recover after this morning’s storms move out. If enough sunshine and warmth return, conditions could become favorable for severe thunderstorms once again, especially across central and southern Iowa.
Storms are expected to develop in eastern Nebraska late this afternoon before moving into southwest Iowa during the early evening hours. These storms are expected to track east across the state through tonight. The environment will support thunderstorms capable of producing large hail, damaging wind gusts, and a few tornadoes. While tornado potential may depend on how much the atmosphere can recover after this morning’s storms, ingredients for severe weather will still be in place.
The strongest storms are expected during the evening and early overnight hours, especially from southwest into central Iowa. Storms should gradually weaken later tonight as they continue east.
Now is a good time to review your severe weather safety plan and make sure you have multiple ways to receive warnings later today and tonight. Be sure to have the ISCN Weather app installed and check back throughout the day for updates as the forecast evolves.
