A community collaboration worth celebrating! 🎨

Today, we joined the Polk County Board of Supervisors and community partners at Conmigo to celebrate the restoration of this beautiful mural.

Support from the Polk County Board of Supervisors, administered through United Way of Central Iowa, helped make critical repairs to the deteriorating stucco beneath the mural possible, creating the foundation for its restoration.

We’re proud to be part of partnerships that help strengthen and celebrate the places that make Central Iowa special.

Demand for essential services across central Iowa continues to grow, but nonprofit capacity isn't keeping pace.

85% of organizations responding to the 2026 Thriving Community Survey expect demand for their services to increase in the coming year. Yet only 30% expect to be able to fully meet that demand.

When organizations cannot keep pace, the impact can reach beyond one program or service. Strengthening nonprofit capacity is an important part of helping individuals and families find stability and thrive.
