Announcing the sale of General Fire in Des Moines to Summit Fire Protection as of 8/13/24. We are very excited about becoming part of Summit Fire and will continue the same great service that customers in central Iowa have become use to. We now offer sprinkler inspections as well through Summit Fire. Our hood cleaning team has been very busy lately, and provides grease removal in commercial kitchen applications for my restaurants and event center locations. We clean all of the system from the roof top fan unit all the way down to the hood. We leave NO AREA uncleaned. There are NO inaccessible areas and we don't need access panels to clean the entire system. Call on our team to assist with your fire safety program. 515-265-3206

Bernardo’s Burritos has moved from the basement suite of the Historic Hawkeye Bldg 213 4th St, Des Moines to the main level and will open back up soon. Alex from our awesome suppression division did the final Fire Dept check out to verify the suppression system by blowing air through the lines and sounding off the alarms. Go check them out and tell them General Fire sent ya!

Customer called that their system shot out a little juice but doesn’t think it shot out to much but now they don’t have gas or electric. They were doing work in their kitchen and somehow actuated the fire suppression system. We went in and found the lines and nozzles all full of grease. You can see the agent is still clogged in the pipe network and we will end up replacing the pipe once the pressure and liquid have dissipated.

The company that just serviced it in Dec 23’ tagged it as compliant and can only assume they did not even check that. It is imparative to check nozzle and lines for grease clogging and especially for high volume restaurants. Had their been a fire here, the restaurant most likely would have burned down. When your fire alarm system is having troubles, call on the professionals at General Fire & Safety, and we will come and do the necessary repairs. This was a pretty inventive way of silencing the panel, so that it wouldn’t make any noise.
