Banana, Quinn, Jaida, Aloha, and Ordelia simply want someone to share their now with. Someone to take them on walks, give them treats, sit beside them, and remind them that they’re still worth choosing.

Senior pets have so much love left to give. Maybe they’re just waiting for someone willing to give them a little time. 💛

SOME DOGS ASK FOR YOUR ATTENTION. SPECIAL QUIETLY EARNS IT.💛

There's a thing that happens at our shelter when Special's name comes up. The eyes go soft. The smile spreads. And then, every single time: "Oh, I love Special." Staff, volunteers, everyone. She's a 1-year-old, 52-pound brown-and-white sweetheart with a grin that could power the building, and she has somehow made every person here fall for her without ever once asking for the attention.

🛏️ THE FLOOR TEST

Walk through our kennels and you might see something unusual: a volunteer lying on the floor of Special's kennel, just petting her. Not because she demanded it. Because she's the kind of quiet, gentle soul that makes people want to get down on her level and stay a while. People meet her once and come back again and again. That's not training. That's just Special.

🏡 WHAT HOME LOOKS LIKE WITH HER

She's a loving lap dog who wants nothing more than to be close to her people. She's lived with dogs and cats. She's a favorite in our doggie playgroup. She knows sit, lay down, and — because she's an overachiever — high five. Give her a couch, a fenced yard to sniff, or simply your lap, and she's home.

🤫 A QUIET WORD ABOUT MEETING HER

Our shelter can get rowdy, and Special is more of a soft-spoken type — so when you first meet her, she may hold a little of herself back. Give her a minute. Everyone here will tell you the same thing: the warm-up is short, and what's on the other side of it is the whole reason we all love her. The volunteers on the kennel floor figured that out. You will too.

💛 SO MUCH LIFE AHEAD

She's not even two. That's a decade-plus of lap sessions, high fives, and that contagious grin waiting for one lucky family. She's given her whole heart to everyone here. Now she's ready to give it to you.

With Fred, it’s simple. All he asks is that someone takes him on adventures, plays with him, teaches him new things, and lets him invade their personal space. ‘Tis all! 🙂‍↕️

Fred is the kind of dog who’s always ready for an adventure, but he’s just as happy to come home and curl up with you afterward. His dream day includes a long walk with plenty of breaks to roll around in the grass, some backyard lounging, and a good game of tug-of-war indoors. And when it’s time for bed? Fred is housetrained, sleeps through the night, and is crate-trained.

He’s a big fan of chew toys and has even learned that when you ask, “Where’s your toy?” it’s time to frantically search for it, find it, and bring it back for another round of play.

Fred’s foster describes him as easygoing, affectionate, and a joy to have around. One thing’s for sure: Fred is ready to find someone who will appreciate his goofy personality, keep him busy, and give him plenty of opportunities to explore, play, learn, and snuggle. He’s also been told that he was probably a platypus in a past life due to his habit of casually plopping himself down on people. Apparently, personal space is optional.

Ordelia's Lucky Break Report! 🍀🦮

Ordelia took a much-needed break on Labor Day to the lake with a couple of volunteers. She couldn’t wait to jump up into the car carrier and hit the road! Once in the carrier, she was cool as a cucumber, just calmly taking in the scenery. When they got to the park and hit the trail, she was ready to sniff—knowing there’s so many new and interesting smells waiting to be discovered.

Ordelia also has her own version of an army crawl, which she happily demonstrated through the wet grass. After her walk, she was content to hang out in the shade and watch the world go by. As she and the volunteers sat together, she gradually seemed to become more comfortable and at ease. 💛

Ordelia was curious about the people passing by and seemed interested in taking in everything happening around her. When other dogs passed by, she’d give a curious bark accompanied by a wagging tail, probably wanting to say, “Who’s that? Can I meet them?”

All in all, Ordelia had a wonderful little adventure, and it was so nice to get an update on her relaxing, unwinding, and enjoying some well-deserved time outside the shelter. Ordelia is up for adoption and you can meet her during any of our open hours!

Some pets may not be the first to catch your eye. Some may not be what you thought you were looking for. And some may have been waiting a little longer than the rest.

But that doesn’t mean they deserve any less.

The pets who are overlooked are often the ones who spend the longest waiting for someone to see past their kennel, their age, their quirks, or simply the fact that they weren’t what someone had pictured when they walked through our doors.

They deserve the same chance to be loved. The same chance to have a family. The same chance to finally know what it feels like to be chosen.

And who knows? Maybe the one you weren’t looking for is exactly the one you needed. ❤️

Piisuke's Happy Tail! 🏡✨

"This has been her whole process since she was adopted. Piisuke is my partner and best friend. 💗"

Piisuke arrived at MCASAC back in June 2025 as a wee baby kitten. After spending some time in the care of her foster, she found her forever home in August of that year. Now, she’s already a year old! 🥹

It’s always so special to see our animals grow from tiny kittens waiting for a family into beloved companions who have truly found their people. From her first days at the shelter to becoming someone’s best friend, Piisuke’s story is exactly why we love happy tails.

We couldn’t be happier to see this little kitten all grown up and so loved! Happy tails to Piisuke!

A PUZZLE WITH EXACTLY ONE MISSING PIECE: YOU. 🧩

My name is Puzzle, and I've spent a lot of time thinking about the person who's going to fill in my missing piece. I already know how it goes: you walk in, I greet you with a tail wag that travels the entire length of me, and somewhere in that moment we both just know. Because I'm the most straightforward good boy you'll ever meet. No hidden pieces. No weird corner bits that don't fit anywhere. Just a 56-pound, 4-year-old professional companion who wants a leisurely day, a favorite person, and maybe a toy or two. That's the whole picture on the box.

🧩 THE PIECES (ALL PRESENT AND ACCOUNTED FOR)

🐾 Perfectly placed tan splotches — like someone assembled me on purpose

🐾 Soft, wavy hair that people cannot stop touching (I allow this)

🐾 Inquisitive eyes that will follow you around the room adoringly

🐾 Fully house-trained — zero accidents, ask anyone

🐾 A calm demeanor that makes couch season my championship season

🏆 MY PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

I walk beautifully on leash. I lounge at an elite level. I snooze nearby while you do whatever it is humans do with laptops. And when I bond with my person? Devoted doesn't begin to cover it. I keep watch just to make sure you're close. You're my favorite hobby.

🤔 THE ONE ACTUAL HEAD-SCRATCHER

Here's the part of my story that's hard to figure out: my family could no longer take care of me. I know they loved me, and I hope to find that again. I'm not dwelling on it — I'm too busy watching the door, because I know my person is out there. And this puzzle isn't hard. One look at me and you'll have it solved.

❤️ COME SOLVE ME

Ask for Puzzle, ID . I'll handle the rest — the tail, the eyes, the whole irresistible package. Forever devotion included at no extra charge.
