Thank you for visiting the Derry Fire Department page today; we are honored to serve you! Our Department consists of fire and EMS personnel who deliver high quality emergency and non-emergency services; fire prevention and code enforcement staff who enforce life safety codes and encourage community risk reduction initiatives; and emergency dispatchers

who provide communication services and other support functions. We are extremely proud of the people in our organization, and the quality of services that we provide. The Department members work diligently to be technically current, fiscally responsible, and highly trained in order to provide the optimal level of emergency and non-emergency public safety services to the community. The Department embraces change as a mechanism to serve the public and our employees. We are a respected leader within the fire and EMS service industry and a trusted agency when requested to provide mutual and automatic aid to our neighboring communities. The Derry Fire Department continues to strive to be the best in the industry by working toward nationally accredited standards. Derry Fire Department personnel are proud of our history, and look forward to the future. Please join Fire Chief Greg Laro and members of the Derry Fire Department in congratulating Firefighter Patrick Glennon on his promotion to Lieutenant effective September 6, 2026. Lieutenant Glennon will be assigned to Battalion 1.
Lt Glennon began his career in the fire service as a call member with the Auburn Fire Department in 2007. He was hired full-time in Auburn in 2010 and spent 10 years there before joining the Derry Fire Department in 2020 as a firefighter AEMT.
Lt Glennon has spearheaded the departments Driver Operator Program. Developed Derry’s Standard Operating Guidelines and Tactical Worksheet for EV fires. Lt Glennon served the Professional Firefighters of New Hampshire as a representative on the Electric Vehicle and Battery Study Council.
Lt Glennon has an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice from Hesser College. He holds the prestigious Fire officer Designation (FO) from the Center for Public Safety Excellence – Commission on Professional Credentialing. He holds numerous fire and rescue certifications.
Lt Glennon lives in Auburn with his wife Kathryn and stepson Ryan. Congratulations Lieutenant Glennon! This is a proud moment for our organization and the Town of Derry. Continuing to lead from the front!

Please join Fire Chief Greg Laro and members of the Derry Fire Department in congratulating Lieutenant Dennis Livoli on his promotion to Battalion Chief effective September 6, 2026. BC Livoli will be the Battalion 3 Shift Commander.
BC Livoli began his career with the Derry Fire Department in 2005 as a firefighter Paramedic and promoted to Lieutenant in 2017. BC Livoli holds the prestigious Fire officer Designation (FO) from the Center for Public Safety Excellence – Commission on Professional Credentialing.
BC Livoli earned the rank of Eagle Scout from the Boy Scouts of America in 1992. In 2019, he received the Boy Scouts of America Silver Beaver Award. The highest honor a Council (the Spirit of Adventure Council, a division of The Boy Scouts of America) may bestow on a volunteer.
BC Livoli has BA in Fire Administration from Columbia Southern University; Paramedic Certificate from Northeastern and holds professional certificates as a Certified Company Officer, Trench Rescue, Confined Space Rescue, Hazardous Materials Technician and various technical rescue disciplines.
April 20, 2026, Dennis completed the Boston Marathon. Running in support of the Last Call Foundation. This organization is dedicated to firefighter safety, showing the type of person Dennis Livoli is!
BC Livoli lives in Derry with his wife Kelly, and their three children Zakari, Kody, and Ella. Congratulations Battalion Chief Livoli! This is a proud moment for our organization and the Town of Derry. Continuing to lead from the front!

The Fire Department respectfully invites you to join us on Friday, September 11, 2026, at our Fire Headquarters facility, 56 Rockingham Rd., as we gather to remember the 2,977 lives lost 25 years ago. This year’s ceremony will last approximately 30 minutes as we take the time to specifically recognize the departments, precincts, divisions, and companies that lost members that day. We will begin assembling at 8:20 am, with the ceremony beginning promptly at 8:40 am.

Today, the Derry Fire Department recognizes and congratulates Firefighter Paramedic Yari McKeon after his six years of dedicated service to the Derry Fire Department and, most importantly, to the residents of our community.

Over the past six years, Yari has answered countless calls, cared for people on some of the most difficult days of their lives, and proudly served alongside the men and women of the Derry Fire Department. His commitment, compassion, and dedication to helping others have made a lasting impact on both the department and the community we are privileged to serve.

While we are certainly sad to see Yari leave the Derry Fire Department, we are equally excited to watch him take the next step in his career. Yari will be pursuing an exciting new role as an Emergency Department Nurse, where we know he will continue to make a difference in the lives of others.

Yari, thank you for your six years of service, your friendship, and your commitment to the people of Derry. The fire service is a special profession, and the bonds formed here don't end when someone walks out the door. You will always be part of the Derry Fire family.

Please join Fire Chief Greg Laro and Members of the Derry Fire Department to congratulate Battalion Chief William Gillis who retired on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, after 32.7 years of service with the Department. Battalion Chief Gillis began with Derry on January 3rd, 1994, as a Firefighter/Paramedic, was promoted to Lieutenant in 2000, Captain in 2016, and Battalion Chief in 2017. Chief Gillis has served as the Departments Apparatus Procurement Officer for many years and has also served as the Deputy Emergency Management Director. Among many professional achievements BC Gillis has received the prestigious Chief Fire Officer Designation. Chief Gillis, we wish you and your loved ones all the best in your retirement!
