DERMOTT VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT

Dear Community and Fire Department Family,

First, I thank God for allowing me to see my 25th anniversary and 11 months of serving as a firefighter with the Dermott Fire Department. I am also honored to serve as the first African American Fire Chief since 2020.

Over the years, I have learned a great deal and faced many challenges in my role as both a firefighter and Fire Chief. Through it all, I have come to truly appreciate the dedicated men and women I work alongside. The teamwork, commitment, and brotherhood within this department mean everything.

I give thanks to God that during my time as Fire Chief, we have not experienced any serious injuries or loss of life while responding to emergency scenes. That is a blessing I do not take lightly.

In 2025, our department faced difficult times with sickness and loss. But as a team, we came together in prayer, asking God to remove those challenges from our department, to take control, and to place His protection over each and every one of us—including our families. We asked Him to build a hedge of protection around us, and when the tones go off, we will continue to answer the call in Jesus’ name. Amen.

To my firefighters—thank you for everything you do for the citizens of Dermott and the surrounding areas. Your service, sacrifice, and dedication do not go unnoticed.

Will be at the Crawfish Festival Today and Tomorrow. Dunking Booth will start around 3:45pm today. Giveaway tickets for the $50.00 gas card will be setup at the booth alone with the 911 signs. 50lbs Ice Bags $5.00

Attention Dermott Citizens:

If you receive your letter from the Chicot County Judge’s Office regarding the new 911 address changes, the Dermott Fire Department currently has the new 911 address signs available.

The cost of each sign is $20.00.

If you need a sign, you may contact any firefighter, contact City Hall, or stop by City Hall to place your name, address, and contact information on the sign request form. The list will be checked daily for sign orders.

Without the support from our community and the surrounding areas, events like this would not be possible. Your continued support means a great deal to our department, and we truly appreciate each and every one of you.
