The City of DeRidder - City Hall, Barrel Up Sports and USFA Softball has partnered up and brought a tournament here to DeRidder West Park and we’re so excited to finally have a tournament here at home!!

Our girls have been putting the work in and now it’s time to show it off on the field💪🏽 Come out and support our girls and our city this weekend!

In-between games, if you have time, go check out some of our local shops around town! If you don’t snag some yummy ball park food from our concession stand, visit one of our local restaurants! Remember to shop small🤍

Please whisper a prayer for our girls, our coaches, and our parents as we venture off into a new age group. Please whisper a prayer for our tournament directors, our city officials and our umpires that everything runs in their favor as we kick off this new season! Please pray for all the teams this weekend that they have the strength to get through this heat and they are safe traveling to and from🙏🏼

is today, Aug. 26, and we are introducing our "Dog Mayor" fundraiser for the Beauregard Bark Park!

Do you think your pooch has what it takes to become the Dog Mayor of DeRidder? Now is your chance to put them on the ballot! 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐜𝐤 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭. 𝟏 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐤!

This is how this fundraiser will work:

ELECTION TIMELINE
SEPTEMBER | Register your dog candidate! Submit your dog’s photo and their "campaign platform" (Why do they deserve to lead?)
OCTOBER | Voting - The Main Election: It’s time to hit the pavement! Friends, family, and neighbors can cast their votes ($1 per vote).
NOV. 2 | Official Press Conference: We will host a formal announcement naming the winner and the "swearing in" of our new Dog Mayor. The term will be January 2027 to December 2027.

WHAT DOES THE WINNER GET?
The Dog Mayor will represent the City of DeRidder in at least two parades and other community events, and will receive an official "Mayor Portrait."

THE TOP 12 DOGS
Will be featured in a 2027 Calendar, which will be available to the public for purchase with proceeds also going to the cause.

HOW IT WORKS
Once registration closes, the community will cast their votes by making donations in support of their favorite candidate. Every $1 donated equals one vote, and every dollar raised goes directly to support the Beauregard Bark Park. It’s a fun, friendly competition that celebrates our community’s love for dogs while funding much-needed improvements at the Dog Park for everyone's benefit and enjoyment.

**Dogs must be up-to-date on vaccinations. You will need to upload proof with registration.**

🚨 PUBLIC NOTICE — PLEASE HELP US PROTECT OUR PARKS

We are extremely disappointed to share that the West Park Ballfield Complex has once again been the victim of vandalism.

The writing pictured here was spray-painted directly onto one of our buildings, covering part of the artwork that was created to make West Park a welcoming and enjoyable place for our children and families.

This is more than just graffiti.

This is City property. This is your property. This is our community.

The DeRidder Parks & Recreation Department works hard every day to maintain our parks, improve our facilities, and create spaces that our community can be proud of. We have big plans and big goals for the future of our parks, but incidents like this are incredibly discouraging.

It is discouraging to talk about making improvements and investing in new things when we are struggling to keep the things we currently have in decent shape.

Every dollar and every hour spent repairing intentional damage is a dollar and an hour that could have gone toward improvements, new amenities, programs, equipment, and opportunities for our community.

We want to continue improving our parks. We want our children to have beautiful, safe, and enjoyable places to play. We want our ballfields and facilities to be something our community is proud of.

But we need the community's help to protect what we already have.

If you see someone vandalizing City property, please report it. If you know something about this incident, please speak up.

Our parks belong to ALL of us. Please help us take care of them.
We can build better parks, but we have to work together to protect them.
