The GroMor (Grow More) Cultivator was designed and built in 1919 by Frank Held in Columbus, Ohio. This early motorized cultivator was designed to replace the back breaking work of a push plow which many gardeners only had access to. The GroMor allowed gardeners to attach various garden cultivating tools such as discs, hoes and rakes, which made small vegetable gardening such as beets, carrots and onions much easier. Between 1919 and 1929, The Frank Held Company built an estimated 3000 GroMor Cultivators and sold them throughout the Midwestern United States. An exclusive contract signed in 1920 with Briggs & Stratton gave Frank Held exclusive rights to the Model ā€œPā€ Engine which was the first known Briggs & Stratton engine to be used for gardening.
