AN INVITATION TO HELP SHAPE OUR COMMUNITY
In October of 2025, the City received a grant from the Oregon Department of Land Conservation and Development Commission to update the Depoe Bay Zoning Ordinance, to ensure compliance with recent changes to Oregon Housing Law, and identify and remove barriers to housing production. Simultaneously, a City-funded project was also undertaken, to consider additional changes to the code beyond those that are strictly related to housing. The projects are currently underway, and the consultant recently completed a comprehensive audit of the City’s zoning ordinance, resulting in numerous recommendations for potential amendments.

On August 20th, 2026, the public was invited to an open house at the Depoe Bay Community Center to learn about the projects and provide input. Approximately 30 people attended the 2 hour event, including area residents; business owners; and decision makers. Several reader boards were provided, including 4 interactive boards providing an opportunity for attendees to provide input and feedback. The poster boards that were presented are attached to this announcement, and copies of those are also posted on the wall at City Hall, along with the feedback that was received. You are invited to drop into City Hall and view the materials, located in the office and City Council chambers. Your additional comments and suggestions may also be forwarded to the City Planner via email, at [email protected].

**The Depoe Bay Planning Commission will hold a work session to discuss the housing code project, specifically, at 6PM on September 23rd, 2026, at City Hall. The public is welcome to attend. Calling Depoe Bay Residents!

The City of Depoe Bay has reactivated its Financial Advisory Committee, and we are looking for community members who are interested in volunteering their time and experience to serve our city.

There are currently three seats available on the committee.

Applicants must have been residents of the City of Depoe Bay for at least one year and should have an interest in or background in financial matters. The Financial Advisory Committee serves in an advisory capacity to the City Council and provides an opportunity for residents to become directly involved in supporting responsible financial planning and oversight for our community.

If you have Astound and need to use internet, please come to the Community Hall in Depoe Bay on Bay Street and feel free to use the internet. While you are here, shop at the wonderful vendors with their lovely handmade items, plus, at noon, there's a free bowl of lasagna soup waiting for you. As well as hot coffee, tea and cookies. You can do a lot between now and 4:30. :)
