🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️ STATE BOUND!🐾

The Track & Field program had an outstanding showing this weekend at the Section VI State Qualifier Meet at Alden High School with several athletes earning personal bests, medals, and state championship berths.

A special congratulations to the athletes who have qualified for the New York State Track & Field Championships next weekend at Webster Schroeder High School:

🔹 Senior Cam Christiano - Qualified in the Boys Pentathlon after capturing the Class B Championship and finishing with a personal-best 4:51 in the 1500m.
🔹 Junior Zach Bridenbaker - Qualified in both the 110m Hurdles and Triple Jump following a tremendous meet that saw him place 2nd in the 110m hurdles, triple jump, and high jump in Class B competition.
🔹 Girls 4x100m Relay Team - Ra’Miah Vance, Inylah Spain, Madison Jaskier, and Me’Kailyn Dupree qualified for the state championships after an incredible performance that produced a new SCHOOL RECORD of 48.65, earning the Class B Championship.

Track and Field also received several outstanding performances from athletes across the program:
• Junior Macey Malicki - 3rd place in the Girls Class B Discus
• Sophomore Inylah Spain - 2nd place in the Class B 200m and 4th place in the 100m
• Junior Me’Kailyn Dupree -2nd place in the Class B 100m
• Junior Kylie McCarthy -Personal-best 1:12.00 in the 400m hurdles
• 8th Grader Eva Triplet - 8:24.82 in the 2000m steeplechase

Congratulations to all of our Track & Field athletes on an outstanding season.Best of luck to our state qualifiers as they represent Depew on the biggest stage in New York State next weekend. We are proud of you!

UNFORGETTABLE SEASON 🥎 Softball's (16-7, final record, ranked #9 in NYS Class A) remarkable postseason run came to an end this afternoon losing to Maine-Endwell (16-5, ranked #3 in NYS Class A) by a score of 13-5 in the NYS Class A Quarterfinals at Gates Chili.

Maine-Endwell jumped out to an early lead, but our Wildcats continued to battle throughout the game. Brady Hoffhines continued her outstanding postseason, going 2-for-2 with two walks and an RBI single. Hoffhines finished the final four games of the season batting 9-for-11. Ella Pagano added a double, while Cam Domino delivered a run-scoring double as Depew fought until the final out.

While today's result was not the outcome we hoped for, it does not diminish what this team accomplished during an unforgettable postseason run. The Wildcats defeated a talented East Aurora team, avenged two regular-season losses by defeating Iroquois, captured the Section VI Championship, and then earned victories over fellow sectional champions Starpoint and Private School Our Lady of Mercy to advance to the state quarterfinals.

A special thank you to our seniors Ella Pagano, Giada Rzeszutek, Olivia Toolen, and Brooke Codr for their leadership, dedication, and contributions to Depew Softball. We also congratulate our entire team and coaching staff on a tremendous season.

The future remains bright for Softball with seven student athletes in grades 8-10 playing key roles throughout this memorable postseason journey.

GAMEDAY! Varsity Softball (16-6) travels to Gates Chili High School just outside of Rochester to play Section IV's Maine Endwell Spartans in the New York State Class A Softball Quarterfinals! First pitch is set for 12:30.

Tickets cost $8.35 per Section V policy.

INSTANT CLASSIC!!! Softball (16-6) defeats Section V Class A Champion Our Lady of Mercy 9-7 in a nail biter in the Class A New York State Sub Regional!!!

Down 1-0 in the 3rd, the girls erupted for four runs! Five consecutive hits including a double by Avery Smolarek and a triple by Zoey Zmozynski earned us four runs. After Mercy tied the game in the bottom of the 3rd, we scored three more in the 4th which included a Brady Hoffhines double and a Cam Domino single. Up 7-6, Brady had another hit in the 5th to go up 8-6. A Kensey Malicki double and a successful squeeze play by McKenna Groff made the game 9-7 and the final score of the contest.

A total team effort was led with the bats as we pounded out 12 hits. Brady was 3-4, Cam, Avery, Kensey and Zoey all had two hits. Kensey pitched a gutsy game getting us out of some big jams late which was helped by clutch defense by the entire team.

We now face Section IV Maine-Endwell Saturday at Gates Chili High School in the Class A New York State Softball Quarterfinals!!! First pitch is set for 12:30.

GIRLS BOWLING GOES TO ALBANY. Special shoutout to Girls Bowling who were recognized on the assembly floor for their incredible New York State Championship season and outstanding achievement yesterday in Albany!!!

Congratulations again to Division 2 Individual State Champion Emma Felton, Brianna Lorefice, McKenna Groff, Zoey Zmozynski, Maddie Nagel, Zoe Ferron, Coach Ray Cooper, and the entire program.

A special thanks to Assemblyman Patrick Chludizinski and Superintendent Katie Smith for giving our girls an unforgettable day!
