**Public Notice**

Earlier today, a trucking company traveled through town with two trucks carrying oversized loads. During this incident, each truck struck and damaged a light pole, resulting in a power outage in the affected area.

OG&E is currently on scene working to replace the damaged poles and restore power as quickly and safely as possible.

The trucking company has been contacted, and enforcement action is being taken against both drivers involved.

We appreciate everyone’s patience while OG&E works to make the necessary repairs. Please use caution around the work area and give crews plenty of room to operate safely.

🚧 Traffic Advisory – Hwy 66 Construction Through Depew 🚧

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) and their contractor are actively resurfacing Highway 66 through town. At this time, portions of the roadway are reduced to one lane with two-way traffic controlled by flaggers.

We have received several reports of drivers entering the work zone from side streets and parking lots, resulting in vehicles meeting head-on within the single-lane section.

🔺 Please use extra caution:
• Slow down and be prepared to stop
• Watch carefully for flaggers and follow their directions
• Look both directions before entering the highway from side roads or parking lots
• Expect delays and plan accordingly

Depew Police Department has been in contact with ODOT, and they are working to improve traffic control in these areas.

Our priority is the safety of our citizens, motorists, and the workers on site. Thank you for your patience and cooperation while this project is completed.

We want to thank the Skiatook Police Department for coming down and putting on training for us.

⚡️ TRAINING NEVER STOPS ⚡️

This week, Skiatook Police Officers had the opportunity to travel to the Depew Police Department to instruct Taser training and work alongside fellow law enforcement professionals committed to sharpening their skills.

Training is one of the most important responsibilities in this profession. It builds confidence, improves response times, strengthens decision-making, and helps ensure officers are prepared to handle difficult situations safely and effectively.

Just as important as the training itself is training together. When departments come together to learn, share experience, and build relationships, it strengthens law enforcement as a whole and better serves every community involved.

No matter the patch on the shoulder, the mission remains the same: protect, serve, and go home safe.

We appreciate the Depew Police Department for the invitation and their commitment to professional development.

🧊 Cold Weather Advisory — Animal Care Reminder
With a bitter cold weather system impacting much of Oklahoma this weekend, we want to remind all animal owners of their responsibilities to keep animals safe and healthy during extreme cold conditions.
📉 Projected Weather Conditions (Oklahoma City area):
Friday: High near ~33°F with overnight lows around 9°F — wind chills significantly lower.
Saturday: High near 10–12°F, low near 2–4°F with very cold wind chills.
Sunday: High ~9–16°F with overnight lows dipping below 0°F, and wind chills making it feel much colder.
💨 Dangerous wind chills are expected, especially overnight and early mornings, which can cause frostbite and hypothermia in both humans and animals if left exposed too long.
🐾 Animal Care Reminder
All animal owners are legally required to ensure animals have:
✔ Adequate shelter from cold, wind, and moisture (dry, wind-proof, insulated, and sized to retain heat).
✔ Access to food and clean, unfrozen water.
✔ Protection from conditions that could lead to suffering or injury.
During temperatures at or below freezing — especially as low as the single digits or below with wind chill — outdoor animals without proper shelter and care are at serious risk. Failure to provide adequate care may be considered animal neglect or cruelty under Oklahoma law. This reminder is intended to help keep pets and livestock safe.
If you’re unsure whether your animal’s environment meets these standards, please bring them inside, add extra bedding, or enhance shelter protection.
📞 If you see an animal appearing to be in distress due to cold weather, contact the Creek County Sheriff Department (918)224-4964 and they will dispatch a Depew Officer, so we can check on the situation.
Stay safe and keep all members of your household — including four-legged ones — warm this weekend. ❄️
