Day of Caring is just around the corner! It’s a great opportunity to bring your team together, make a difference and give back to your community.

Day of Caring is a large-scale, multi-project volunteer event across Metro Denver, giving volunteers the chance to support meaningful community projects throughout the region. When wildfires force families from their homes, finding a safe place to land can mean everything. 💙

This wildfire season, our 211 Help Center has been working alongside government and nonprofit partners to help Coloradans find safety and stability.

Since June 30, we have:
• Connected more than 1,500 evacuees to temporary housing through our partnership with Airbnb.org
• Delivered 500 hygiene kits filled with essential personal care items
• Connected hundreds of families to resources like food and transportation

Behind every number is a person and a story. For Jaimie, a grandmother who fled the Aspen Acres fire with her two grandchildren, a call to 211 helped her find a safe place to stay and hope in a difficult moment. A room full of neighbors, community partners and supporters who believe every family deserves the opportunity to thrive. ❤️

That’s how we celebrated the grand opening of the Joan Leprino Community Corner at Mile High United Way last week.

Brought to life by a group of generous investors, including a $1 million gift from Mary Leprino and her family, this new space will provide the families we serve with fresh food, hygiene products, cooking supplies and connections to resources that can help them build a stronger future.

The center is named in honor of Joan Leprino, whose generosity and compassion will continue to make a lasting impact for generations to come.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this space possible. And a special thank you to our speakers, Damon Barry, Christine Benero, Mary Leprino and Nermina Mujkanović, for sharing what this space means to our community.

We're still reflecting on the incredible impact of our annual Back to School Bash.

Thanks to the generosity of our volunteers, donors and community partners, over 900 local students received backpacks filled with essential school supplies, giving them the tools they need to start the school year with confidence.

This year, our Back to School Bash helped more than 700 students head into the new school year with confidence and excitement!🏫🍎

Each child received a new backpack with grade-level school supplies, then spent time making crafts and creating memories with their families. Some of the sweetest moments came from watching little faces light up as they picked out the perfect backpack or carefully chose the color of their very first highlighter. Those small choices may seem simple, but they help kids feel seen, prepared and excited for the year ahead.

Thank you to everyone who volunteered your time, donated supplies or organized a school supply drive! Because of your generosity, hundreds of students are starting the school year with the supplies they need. 🎒

We're proud to officially introduce The Joan Leprino Community Corner at Mile High United Way, made possible by a $1 million gift from Mary Leprino and her family.

Named in honor of Mary's mother, Joan Leprino, the Community Corner provides a welcoming space where families can access fresh food and connect to resources that help them navigate challenges, build stability and move toward greater opportunity.

We're deeply grateful to Mary Leprino and her family for their extraordinary investment in our community. Through The Joan Leprino Community Corner, Joan's legacy of generosity and compassion will continue to make a lasting difference for children and families for generations to come.
