The VIPS program seeks first-rate volunteers to take on tasks in partnership with the men and women of the Denver Police Department serving the citizens of the Denver Metropolitan area. We seek to provide volunteers with rewarding and challenging positions, which enhances the capacity of the Police Department to make Denver a better and safer city. In 2016, 251 volunteers gave 26,272 hours to the

Denver Police Department. The value of these hours equals $618,968 in savings for the City and County of Denver. Since the beginning of the VIPS Program in 2004, volunteers have given 421,106 hours, totaling a savings of more than $9.9 million.

😄 Happy National Smile Day! 😄
Today, we’re celebrating the kind of smiles that come from the heart — the ones sparked by moments of connection, kindness, and purpose. And no one embodies that more than our incredible DPD volunteers.
Whether they’re offering support, lending a listening ear, or simply being a steady presence in someone’s day, our volunteers create meaningful moments that leave lasting impacts. And the best part? Those moments give them something in return — fulfillment, joy, and the kind of smile that sticks around long after the day is done.

Molly took on a brand‑new volunteer task a couple of weeks ago, supporting District 2 during a DenverTrack registration event — an important effort to help prevent car theft across the Denver metro area.
Her calm, welcoming presence made a real difference. Community members felt at ease asking questions, and Molly guided them through the process with patience and confidence that felt anything but new.
