The VIPS program seeks first-rate volunteers to take on tasks in partnership with the men and women of the Denver Police Department serving the citizens of the Denver Metropolitan area. We seek to provide volunteers with rewarding and challenging positions, which enhances the capacity of the Police Department to make Denver a better and safer city. In 2016, 251 volunteers gave 26,272 hours to the

Denver Police Department. The value of these hours equals $618,968 in savings for the City and County of Denver. Since the beginning of the VIPS Program in 2004, volunteers have given 421,106 hours, totaling a savings of more than $9.9 million.

Movie Night in the Park was a hit in District One!
Sindhu kept the energy high by running the popcorn machine, making sure everyone had plenty to enjoy throughout the evening. The event went smoothly, the crowd was great, and—of course—lots of popcorn was had. A perfect night outdoors!

Volunteers brought great energy to this year’s annual 9‑1‑1 BBQ! They spent the day prepping food, serving guests, setting up tables, and making sure everything ran smoothly. And after all their hard work, they joined in the festivities — hanging out with Rocco the robot bomb dog, trying on the bomb suit, and enjoying some amazing food.

We'd like to welcome our newest Volunteer, Angela. We are so excited to have you as a part of our team!

The Spanish Community Academies recently wrapped up another engaging session, supported by volunteers who provided language interpretation for attendees. Their help made it easier for participants to understand DPD programs, services, and discussions presented throughout the sessions.
Volunteers also had the chance to learn more about DPD themselves — gaining insight into different units, meeting staff, and seeing some of the day‑to‑day operations up close.
