Secretary of Veterans Affairs Doug Collins joined Monday's "Wake Up America" and discussed how our veterans are a priority during the government shutdown.

What happened to the political power of the American citizen?
Victor Davis Hanson explains the history of citizenship and the challenges facing the American citizen today in the free online course, “American Citizenship and Its Decline.”
In this course, you’ll discover how citizenship is threatened by:
• the destruction of a self-reliant middle class,
• the loss of our nation’s borders,
• the growth of an unelected and unaccountable administrative ‘elite,’
• and the surrender of our national authority to globalist organizations.
Take advantage of this opportunity to better understand American citizenship, its decline, and what we can do to empower the American citizen today.

In 1918, the U.S. Army Signal Corps sent 223 women to France as telephone operators to help win the Great War. They swore Army oaths, wore uniforms, held rank, and were subject to military justice. By war’s end, they had connected over 26 million calls and were recognized by General John J. Pershing for their service.

But when they returned home, the U.S. government told them they had never been soldiers.
