An active organization, our members raise money, volunteer and direct sight- and family-focused programs. At weekly lunches, we network and learn about contemporary issues. We welcome anyone who believes in community service, friendship and the power of connection.

Labor Day weekend: the annual celebration of not working that immediately assigns one person to cook for everyone.

This year, that person is our Lion.

He approached the grill voluntarily—or stood too close to the spatula. Accounts differ.

While he repeatedly announces that the burgers are “almost ready,” we’re celebrating the hardworking people whose time, talent, and dedication keep our communities moving forward.

Whether you’re working, volunteering, relaxing, or quietly eating chips because dinner has been “five minutes away” for nearly an hour, we wish you a safe and happy Labor Day weekend!

Our Lion serves the community.

Today, he also serves burgers.

Eventually.

Denver Lions Club luncheons are back—and we’re beginning with an uplifting, well-rounded presentation from Chelsea Lillo of Prosthetic Illusions.

As the breast care consultant and business administrator, Chelsea fills two important roles while remaining firmly committed to helping others feel supported, comfortable, and confident.

Chelsea earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Appalachian State University. Under the guidance of her mother, Barbara Spohn-Lillo, and educators at the University of Georgia, her interests began to take shape. Since then, she has studied prosthetics, attended international conferences, and become a skilled caster and fitter of breast prostheses.

Her work offers personalized support to people navigating deeply personal changes—making this a mission that is especially close to our hearts.

Join us for a presentation filled with compassion, expertise, and a beautifully balanced perspective.

The Lions are coming out of hibernation. 🦁

Our meetings return next week, which means the calendars are filling up, the projects are kicking back into gear, and somewhere, someone is already asking, “Wait… what time was that again?”

We’ve got a busy season ahead with plenty of service, events, and opportunities to get involved in the community.

Service shouldn’t be something we squeeze in from “9 to 5.” 🎵

It should be a way of life.

It’s showing up when someone needs you. Sharing your time, your talents, and your own unique piece of the “Coat of Many Colors.” 🎶

It’s helping someone through a difficult season until they can see the “Light of a Clear Blue Morning.” 🎵

It’s believing that one generous act—a donated pair of eyeglasses, a warm meal, a helping hand—can travel farther than we may ever know.

Dolly Parton showed the world that an extraordinary legacy isn’t measured only by the songs people remember. It’s measured by the lives made brighter because you were here.

Today, we honor a woman we “Will Always Love”—and the beautiful example of service she leaves behind. 🎶

Sir, this is the Denver Lions Club, not Tinder.

While we agree with the sentiment, we are questioning the placement—specifically, beneath a ten-year-old review of a service organization.

More appropriate locations may include:

• A handwritten letter to your beloved
• A greeting card with entirely too much glitter
• Your dating profile
• A sticky note on your crush’s car—although legal counsel has asked us to reconsider this one
• The final chapter of a romance novel
• Literally anywhere that does not have a star rating

Thank you, mysterious commenter, for sharing this reminder about genuine love—and for bringing an unexpected romantic subplot to our review section.

We were not prepared, but we were entertained.

Your first eyeglass sorting event is coming up.

You’ve selected an outfit. You’ve practiced identifying objects with lenses. You’ve notified your emergency contact.

But what should you actually expect?

• A friendly welcome
• Simple instructions before you begin
• More eyeglasses than you previously believed existed
• Absolutely no experience required
• The strange satisfaction of placing one pair in exactly the right spot
• At least one frame that makes you question an entire decade
• New friends who take service seriously—and themselves considerably less so

You’ll arrive as someone who volunteered to help.

You’ll leave with a sense of accomplishment, several new acquaintances, and unexpectedly strong opinions about eyeglass frames.
