🌮🚑 Tonight at the Denton County CERT meeting, our volunteers traded tacos for tourniquets and put their disaster medical skills to the test!

Members participated in hands-on refresher training covering:
🩸 Treating and recognizing shock
🩹 Proper tourniquet application
🛏️ Using Mega Movers for patient carries and transport

From lifesaving skills to teamwork under pressure, our CERT volunteers continue training to be ready when our community needs them most.

This Cinco de Mayo, we’re grateful for volunteers who can handle both the heat 🌶️ and the emergencies. Thank you to everyone who came out and trained with us tonight!

Denton County—quick question: Could you leave your house in 5 minutes and have what you need?

A family emergency go-kit keeps it simple:
• Water & snacks
• Flashlight + batteries
• First aid kit
• Medications
• Phone charger/power bank
• Important documents

Keep it in a bag, keep it easy to grab, and check it twice a year.

Preparedness starts with a plan—and a packed bag.

Heads up, Denton County,

Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) will be conducting a statewide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) on April 2, 2026. This exercise is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen public warning systems.

During the test, residents may receive emergency alert notifications through various systems. This is only a test and no action will be required.

Our office is working with our local jurisdictions and partners to support this exercise and help ensure our public warning systems remain effective in keeping our community informed during emergencies.

Please help us spread awareness so residents know what to expect.
