Expecting a Severe Thunderstorm Warning shortly for the City, as the storms just west of us are producing a lot of rain and gusty winds. Radar indicated possibly quarter-sized hail. Time to get inside!

We’ve got some thunderstorms on the way in from the west that will be impacting us in about an hour. NWS has issued a Special Weather Statement just west of the City for gusty winds 45-55 and maybe penny-sized hail. Be weather aware if going out this evening!

UPDATE 3:31 p.m. | Leah has been found safe and has been reunited with her family. Thank you for sharing our post!

MISSING JUVENILE | 13-year-old Leah was last seen at 3:35 a.m. this morning near the 1800 block of Teasley Lane. Leah is 5-5 and weighs approximately 130 pounds. She has black hair with blonde edges/tips styled with braids in the front and an afro in the back and was known to be wearing a gray hoodie.

Please call 911 if you see Leah!

SB Dallas Dr closed to SB 35E

TRAFFIC UPDATE 8:54 p.m. | The road has reopened. We are sad to report that there was a fatality involved in this crash.

TRAFFIC UPDATE 7:03 p.m. | The road is expected to remain shut down for the next two hours.

TRAFFIC ALERT 3:48 p.m. I Denton Police and Fire are responding to a single vehicle crash on the southbound side of Dallas Drive at the entry into southbound I35E. Traffic is being diverted to the service road. I35 is open, but southbound Dallas Drive will be closed for the next several hours.

3 p.m. update: The Mall is back open!

1:45 update: Gas line has been shut down. We’ll work on a reopening ETA and post when able.

1:20 update on gas leak at Golden Triangle Mall:

Atmos is one scene working to shut off the 2” gas line that was hit by a private contractor doing work for Barnes and Noble. The wind was pushing fumes into the mall, so it was evacuated.

There is no threat to the public.

The mall is currently shut down and power shut down to the east wing of the mall. Mall
Management is on scene. We will update as soon as we can on shut down and potential reopening today.

GAS LEAK AND EVACUATION AT GOLDEN TRIANGLE MALL:
The GTM is being evacuated at this time for a gas leak outside of the Barnes and Noble entrance. The wind is pushing the gas fumes into the mall.

The outdoor warning sirens just did their monthly test and has nothing to do with this leak.

8:10 A.M.— SHERMAN DRIVE HAS REOPENED
There will still be construction crews in the area working on gas and water lines, but Sherman and side streets are reopening now.

6:45 A.M. UPDATE ON SHERMAN DR CLOSURE:
Contractors have about an hour left before re-opening Sherman Drive. We’ll let you know when open.

4:45 UPDATE ON SHERMAN DRIVE CLOSURE:
Atmos has the gas shut off to the affected area but will be working overnight to repair lines. This will mean Sherman Drive will still be closed overnight. They hope to be able to reopen Sherman around 7 tomorrow morning.

MAJOR CLOSURE:
Sherman Drive is closed from Linwood to Windsor plus side streets for 4” gas line hit at Sherman/Stuart. Expect this closure for most of the day. No evacuations being done at this time.
