As you head to class, work, or campus events, remember to help protect your vehicle and belongings by taking a few simple precautions:

• Lock your doors and roll up your windows
• Take your keys and key fob with you
• Keep valuables out of sight or take them with you
• Never leave wallets, purses, laptops, or other electronics visible inside your vehicle

UNT is committed to maintaining a safe campus environment, and everyone plays a role in keeping our community secure. Taking these simple steps can help prevent crimes of opportunity and keep your belongings protected.

National SAFE Day serves as an important reminder that responsible firearm ownership includes proper storage and ongoing safety conversations.

The SAFE checklist encourages everyone to:

• Secure fi****ms
• Ask about fi****ms in homes your children visit
• Frequently talk about firearm safety
• Educate and empower others

Small actions can help prevent accidental tragedies and keep our communities safer.

The UNT Police Department is proud to have had four team members attend the PLECET (Professionalizing Law Enforcement Community Engagement Training) Conference last week alongside professionals representing all 50 states.

One of the highlights of the conference was a conversation between UNT Police Chief Ramona Washington and Waco Police Chief Sheryl Victorian, whose discussion emphasized that effective leadership and meaningful community engagement are rooted in showing up consistently, building authentic relationships, and being fully present for both the people we serve and the teams we lead.

We were excited for the opportunity to learn, collaborate, and bring valuable knowledge back to the UNT community.

Howdy, future Eagles! Orientation season is here and UNT Police will be around campus throughout the summer meeting incoming students and families.
Stop by our table, ask questions, learn about campus safety resources, and meet some of the people who help keep UNT safe 24/7.
We look forward to welcoming the next generation of Mean Green students to campus.

Howdy, Eagles!

While much of the university is taking a well-earned break today, remember that UNT Police are here if you need us — 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Today, we also pause to honor and remember the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Their courage and sacrifice are the reason we are able to enjoy the freedoms we have today.

We’ve received multiple reports of students getting calls that look like they’re coming directly from the UNT Police Department (940-565-3000).THIS IS A SCAM. Scammers are spoofing the department's caller ID to trick you.⚠️ What they’re doing: They may claim you have an outstanding warrant, legal issue, or a problem with your student/financial aid status and threaten you with arrest unless you pay immediately.⚠️ The reality: UNT Police (or any legitimate law enforcement agency) will NEVER call you demanding payment, gift cards, crypto, or wire transfers to avoid arrest. What to do:1️⃣ HANG UP. Do not give out personal info, SSN, or money.2️⃣ If you want to verify, dial the official UNT Police non-emergency line directly yourself: 940-565-3000 (don't just hit redial).3️⃣ Spread the word to protect your fellow Mean Green family! 🦅
