Game day is about cheering on the Mean Green, making memories and having a good time. Our UNT Police officers were out throughout the stadium and around campus Saturday, helping keep the Mean Green community safe while everyone enjoyed the game.

And what a game it was. UNT took down UNLV 44-6 for a big home-game win.

Thanks to everyone who helped make Saturday a great one. We’ll see you at the next one, Mean Green!

It’s Co-Responder Awareness Week, and we’re excited to introduce the newest member of UNT’s co-responder team: Cpl. Misha Stephens.

UNT’s co-responder program pairs a specially trained mental health professional with a UNT police officer to respond to calls involving mental health concerns, emotional distress or other situations where additional support may be helpful.

The goal is simple: connect members of our campus community with the right resources while helping create safer and more supportive outcomes.

Tonight, several members of the UNT Police Department Communications team, along with Police Chief Ramona Washington and Assistant Director Dana Mays, attended the Denco Area 9-1-1 District Awards Banquet, where Tera was honored with the Silent Hero Award!

This recognition follows another well-deserved honor for Tera, who was recently named the UNT Police Department’s 2025 Dispatcher of the Year. She consistently does an outstanding job serving our department, our police officers and the entire UNT community.

We are incredibly proud of Tera and grateful for our entire team of “headset heroes,” who work around the clock to help keep our campus community and police officers safe. Please join us in congratulating Tera on this well-earned recognition! 💚🦅

Two of our Student Public Safety Officers (PSOs) were recently recognized with the Above the Line Challenge Coin for going above and beyond in their roles. This summer, they stepped up to help train new PSOs, demonstrating leadership, dedication and a commitment to supporting their fellow officers. UNT Police are investigating multiple reports of stolen electric scooters on campus, including a report received Sept. 9 involving a scooter stolen from a bus stop in Lot 20.

Several scooters were left unsecured or improperly secured and unattended for extended periods. UNT Police are actively working to identify suspects and develop leads.

Help protect your scooter:

• Use a high-security U-lock when securing your scooter.
• Consider using a GPS tracker.
• Consider engraving personally identifiable numbers in an inconspicuous location.
• Report suspicious or dangerous activity immediately by calling 911.

If you have information about these thefts, contact UNT Criminal Investigative Services at 940-565-3006 or remain anonymous by calling 940-369-TIPS (8477).

UNT Police also offer a free bicycle and scooter engraving program for students. Bring your scooter and a valid form of identification to the UNT Police Department to participate.

Attention Eagles:

The UNT Police Department has run out of stock of our U-locks for the fall semester. The program will return in the spring.

If you don't know, the UNT PD has free U-locks to students on campus when they bring their bike to be engraved with identifying information. In the case of theft, this engraving helps increase the likelihood that a bike or scooter will be returned to the rightful owner.

Come by the Police Department in the spring semester, and we can get you a FREE U-lock at that time.
