Today, the Caroline County Department of Emergency Services pauses to remember September 11, 2001, and the nearly 3,000 lives lost that day.
We remember the firefighters, police officers, paramedics, EMTs, dispatchers, and countless civilians who ran toward danger while others were running away. We remember the sacrifices made that day and the lasting impact on our public safety community.
On this day, we also recognize the men and women who continue to answer the call every day.
📞 To our 911 Specialists:
You are the first, calm voice in someone's worst moment. You gather critical information, send help, and remain composed when every second matters. Your work often happens behind the scenes, but it is an essential part of every emergency response.
🚑 To our EMS Clinicians:
Our paramedics and EMTs bring skill, compassion, and courage to every call. You provide care in the back of ambulances, on roadsides, in homes, and wherever the patient needs you. You carry the responsibility of making critical decisions when seconds count.
🚒 To our Volunteer Fire Service:
You answer the call while balancing careers, families, and everyday life. You leave your homes, jobs, and families to serve your neighbors. Your commitment and willingness to respond when your community needs you is something we should never take for granted.
September 11 reminds us that public safety is more than a job—it is a commitment to serve others.
Today, we remember those we lost.
We honor those who responded.
We recognize those who continue to serve.
And we thank every member of the Caroline County public safety community who stands ready to answer the call.
