Confused about what goes into the recycling and what doesn't? It's time to pay a visit to the Waste Wizard🪄

This magical tool, located at dentonrecycles.com, gives you the ability to type in an item, and the wizard tells you how to recycle or dispose of it!

As a reminder, the following items are accepted in the City of Denton's Recycling Program:
-Cardboard and boxboard (flattened boxes)
-Paper: junk mail, magazines, newspaper (no napkins, tissues, paper towels, or paper plates)
-Aluminum and steel cans (no scrap metal)
-Plastic bottles, tubs, and jugs (no plastic bags, wrap, film, or Styrofoam)
-Glass bottles and jars (remove all lids)
-Cartons

PLEASE DO NOT BAG YOUR RECYCLING... It makes the wizard sad. 🧙If you are unsure if an item is accepted in Denton’s Recycling program, please use our Waste Wizard or email us at [email protected]. When in doubt, throw it out!

The City of Denton is gearing up for a major upgrade to its water infrastructure by replacing every meter citywide with new technology. With the implementation of the new AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure), customers will move from manual meters to an automated system that provides constant access to daily usage data, making it easier to spot leaks early and make informed decisions about water consumption.

Meter replacements are set to begin this summer and are expected to be completed by the end of 2028.

Atmos is one scene working to shut off the 2” gas line that was hit by a private contractor doing work for Barnes and Noble. The wind was pushing fumes into the mall, so it was evacuated.

There is no threat to the public.

The mall is currently shut down and power shut down to the east wing of the mall. Mall Management is on scene. We will update as soon as we can on shut down and potential reopening today.

Ever think about what it takes to keep our neighborhood clean? It’s more than just the trucks you see on your street; it’s also the hardworking team behind the scenes making sure those trucks stay moving.

That’s why we are so excited about the upgrades to our Fleet Services: Solid Waste Maintenance Shop! This revamped space makes repairs more efficient for our technicians, meaning fewer unexpected delays and more trucks staying on schedule.

Here's how these upgrades are already making a difference:

📌The new location on the Solid Waste and Recycling Campus eliminates extra travel time and keeps repairs moving.
📌 Expanded shop bays allow crews to work on more trucks at once and get them back on the road sooner.
📌 Adjusting repair hours from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. allows trucks to be serviced before and after trucks begin servicing their routes instead of during.
📌 Technicians can now work fully indoors, helping them to avoid weather-related impacts on their repair timelines.

At the end of the day, supporting the technicians who keep our fleet moving means more efficient repairs and more reliable service for Denton. 🚛✨
