Our Senior Lockbox Installation Program is a quick and easy process, taking less than 20 minutes from the time we knock on your door to full installation and completion.

A lockbox is a secure, weather-resistant key safe that is mounted outside your home in a discreet location. It allows authorized emergency responders to safely and quickly access your residence without forcing entry during an emergency.

For Police, EMS, and Fire personnel, lockboxes help:
- Reduce response times in emergencies
- Prevent unnecessary forced entry and property damage
- Improve safety for both residents and responders
- Ensure faster medical care when seconds count

This is a free program available to residents who are 65 years of age or older. Individuals under 65 may also qualify if they have a major medical condition that could render them incapacitated or unconscious.

For more information or to request installation, call our non-emergency number (903-465-2422) or visit: https://www.cityofdenison.com/348/Senior-Lockbox-Program

At approximately 0800 hours, Denison Police responded to a report of a suspicious scene involving spilled coffee and several half eaten donuts.

Investigators quickly determined this was no accident.

The scene was processed, witnesses were interviewed, and all available evidence was collected for further examination.

Unfortunately, the evidence has since been consumed.

The investigation remains ongoing, but detectives are confident they'll need another box of donuts to complete their report. 🍩☕

Updated on 6/12/2026 to reflect additional information:

Recently, we’ve seen an increase in incidents involving alternative motor-driven vehicles, and we want to help keep everyone safe by reminding riders where they can ride, and what they can legally operate.

‼️Texas state law requires operators of Class 3 e-bikes to be at least 15 years old. Electric motorcycles and mopeds also require a Class M driver license and vehicle registration.

Please remember that local rules may vary, subject to applicable state law.

In Denison:

🚫 Within the Central Area District, riders may not operate bicycles, roller skates, skateboards, toy vehicles, coasters, or similar devices on sidewalks or driveways. This restriction does not apply to personal property.

🚫 Certain motorized vehicles and devices, including unauthorized motor-powered vehicles, motor-assisted scooters, neighborhood electric vehicles, and other devices prohibited by City ordinance are not permitted within City parks or on City park trails. E-bikes may only be ridden in City parks or on City park trails where bicycles are permitted.

Before riding, make sure you know the local rules, wear proper safety gear, and stay alert. Riders operating on public roadways must obey all traffic laws and safety regulations.

By working together, we can help keep our roads, sidewalks, and parks safe for everyone!

High temperatures can quickly become dangerous for animals, so it’s important to keep them cool, hydrated, and protected. It’s also the law.

🚨 You can be ticketed or arrested for:
- Leaving a pet in a parked car without proper ventilation or protection from extreme heat.
- Transporting an animal in the back of a truck or open vehicle without a secure, ventilated crate.

Let’s work together to protect Denison’s furry friends and prevent heat-related emergencies!
