Mrs. Romaire’s and Ms. Leopold’s 5th grade science classes visited the library this week to practice their research skills using World Book. Students learned how to use key word searches to find information about stars and constellations.

After researching, students put their learning into action by creating their own constellation tubes for some hands on stargazing. It was a fun way to connect research skills, science, and creativity while exploring the night sky!

Ms. Ruiz’s fifth grade Social Studies classes spent Tuesday in the library expanding their research skills. Students used World Book Online to practice targeted keyword searches while exploring the key differences between querying online encyclopedias and using artificial intelligence to gather information. The lesson focused on making smart research decisions and prioritizing verified, fact-based sources. Outstanding effort by these dedicated fifth grade scholars as they master modern information literacy.

Today in the library, Mrs. Curtis’s 5th grade Social Studies classes practiced researching with keyword searches on World Book Online. Students learned about the difference between using an online encyclopedia and using A.I. to find answers. They talked about how to make smart choices when researching and why it is important to look for information that is based on facts. Great work, 5th grade!

Our 6th grade students learned how to place their own holds in the library and look how many holds are already coming in. I will call in students during homeroom to pick up their books.

We need a bigger hold box!

Did you know that Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library has donated over 300 million books to children? Dolly believed that poverty shouldn't stop a child's imagination. She wanted to ensure that children from her hometown, and eventually across the world, had the tools to dream of becoming whatever they wanted to be. Thank you, Dolly!
