I had the pleasure of meeting Collin at the Louisiana State Capitol, where he was presented with a 2026 Student of the Year Commendation for his outstanding academic achievements while representing Walker High School.

Collin’s hard work, dedication, leadership and commitment to excellence has earned him recognition at both the state and national levels. He is a tremendous source of pride for his family, Walker High School and our entire Livingston Parish community.

Thursday night I spoke at the Livingston Parish Council meeting to give an update about the Legislative session. I was most excited about to able to report the tens of millions of dollars we got for road projects and funding for firefighters support and law enforcement needs, such N70 radios for emergency communication, body cams, and AED for police cars and much more.

Our Parish Councilmen - and women - do a great job and I am blessed to be able to serve this Parish and work together with leaders who serve The People of LP.

“BEST SHERIFF IN THE NATION!”

I want to give a big shout out to Livingston Parish’s own Sheriff Jason Ard!
Once again, Sheriff Ard has gotten national attention in the fight to keep our children safe from predators.

I presented Sheriff Jason Ard Livingston Parish and his awesome deputies the Senate Commendation during session. He just keeps getting more accomplishments, getting him national recognition and making Livingston Parish a safer place!

Among their many accomplishments, LPSO recently seized approximately 361 pounds of methamphetamine—the largest drug seizure in Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office history and one of the largest in Louisiana. This operation removed nearly $4 million worth of dangerous narcotics from our communities.

I was also proud to recognize the work of the Livingston Parish Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. Through partnerships with the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office and nationally recognized child protection advocate Chris Hansen, LPSO continues working tirelessly to identify predators, protect children, and bring offenders to justice.

As a mother of five daughters, I am extremely grateful for his unrelenting diligence and courageous commitment to protect our community. 🇺🇸

🚨 PARENT ALERT 🚨

Parents, grandparents and guardians ... please monitor and take a moment to check on your children’s online activity.

A recent arrest involving a registered s*x offender accused of communicating with a Livingston Parish child through an online gaming platform serves as a sobering reminder that dangers exist in places many families may never suspect. Predators are increasingly using gaming apps, social media, chat rooms, and messaging platforms to gain access to children while hiding their true identities.

Many young people believe they are talking to someone their own age when, in reality, they may be communicating with an adult with harmful intentions.

As parents, we must stay involved. Know what apps your children are using, who they are talking to, and what platforms they are spending time on. Have conversations with them about online safety and remind them that not everyone on the internet is who they claim to be.

I also want to extend my sincere gratitude to Attorney General Liz Murrill, the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard, Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives and deputies and everyone involved in this investigation and arrest. Because of their vigilance and dedication, another dangerous predator has been taken off our streets and away from our children.

Protecting our children requires vigilance from all of us. A few minutes spent reviewing a phone, tablet, gaming console, or social media account could make all the difference.
Our children are our most precious gift. Let’s do everything we can to keep them safe.

I want to say thank you to all of our brave and courageous first responders who put their lives on the line every day to protect our families, homes, and communities.

It was an honor to attend the ribbon cutting for Livingston Parish Fire Protection District 4’s new fire station alongside Chairman Bobby Dugas, Chief Wascom, Sheriff Jason Ard, Councilwoman Erin Sandefur, Councilman John Mangus, April Wehr with the Livingston Parish Chamber, and many others.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this project a reality and to the brave men and women who answer the call when our community needs them most. 🇺🇸

🇺🇸 Promises Made. Promises Delivered. 🇺🇸

Today, Senator Valarie Hodges joined Councilwoman Erin Sandefur and community leaders at South Park to see the results of a $200,000 investment that has transformed this park into a destination for families, recreation, and community gatherings. South Park now features outdoor pickleball courts, a disc golf course, walking trails, security cameras, and numerous park improvements that have revitalized an area once used primarily as a practice field and playground.

Senator Hodges also secured funding for LM Lockhart Park, allowing the purchase of four much-needed air conditioning units to improve facilities for the community.

A special thank you to Councilwoman Erin Sandefur, the PARDS team, Rod Vulgamore, Jeff Foltz who heads up Lagniappe Disc Golf LLC, Sharon Elliott, Laura Dunlap, and the many volunteers who continue making South Park a place Livingston Parish can be proud of.
