If you are bringing food or drinks to Macedonia Church tomorrow for the Roark family, we would like to ask you to bring a card or a short note as well.

We will have a box available for you to leave your message so we can send them home with the family. Please let them know that they are in our thoughts, prayers, and hearts.

The Roark family is new to our community, and during this heartbreaking time, let’s introduce them to the love and support of the people who now call them neighbors. ❤️🙏

Shinbone Valley Community, I am asking you today for your help. ❤️

By now, most of you are aware of the tragic accident that happened Sunday and the heartbreaking loss that has deeply affected a family who is new to our community. This family lost two very special family members in one terrible day.

As a community, we have an opportunity to surround this family with the same love, compassion, and support that makes Shinbone Valley so special. They may be new to our community, but they are our neighbors, and when our neighbors hurt, we hurt with them.

On Saturday, the family will hold a funeral service for Brock Roark — husband, father, son, brother, and beloved uncle — at their home on Abel Road at 4:00 p.m.

After the funeral, Macedonia Church has so graciously offered the use of their fellowship hall so the family can gather together and share a meal. This is where I am asking our community to come together and help.

This is a large family, and we will need food and drinks donated to help provide this meal.
Dan and Patty Wolf will have the fellowship hall open beginning at 2:30 p.m. Saturday for anyone who would like to drop off food. We plan to feed the family around 5:00 p.m., so we ask that all food and drinks please be dropped off by 4:00 p.m.
Please NO PORK.

If you are able to help, please feel free to call or text me or Mrs. Patty. Every dish, every drink, and every act of kindness will mean so much to this family during an unimaginable time.

The funeral service is open to everyone. Mrs. Roark told me that she wants to see as many people as possible there to celebrate the life of her precious husband. I hope our community will come out and surround her and her family with love and support.

Most importantly, please keep this family in your prayers — not just today or Saturday, but in the days, weeks, and months ahead. The days after the funeral are often some of the hardest, and this family will need to know that they are not walking through this alone.

Let's show them what Shinbone Valley is all about. ❤️
Let's wrap our arms around this family, lift them up in prayer, and remind them that they have a community standing beside them.

As first responders, we are paged to a call with details of what to expect when we arrive. We listen, prepare ourselves, and hurry to get there because we know that someone needs help.

As we’re making our way to the scene, so many thoughts run through our minds. What will we find when we get there? How serious is it? What will we need to do? Who will need us?

But there is one thing you can never truly prepare yourself for—the pain of a family desperately waiting for help for someone they love.
The screams.
The cries.
The tears.
The look on their faces.
Those are the things that stay with you.

No matter how many calls you run, there are some that become etched into your heart. You can feel the family’s pain so deeply that even after the call is over, the equipment is put away, and you finally make it home, your heart is still at the scene.

You pray. And you pray hard.
You pray for the family. You pray for their loved one. You pray for the days ahead. And sometimes, you find yourself praying for people you may never even meet again.

Today, we are asking our Shinbone Valley community to please join us in prayer for 2 families who are facing an unimaginable time. Please pray for them, their loved ones, and everyone affected by yesterday’s accident.

We also want to say a very special thank you to Brandon, Haley, Chris, and Alicia for everything you did yesterday to help. Your kindness and willingness to step up meant more than you know.
We are also grateful for the Clay E911 dispatchers, Clay County Rescue Squad, ALEA, and Bishops Towing. Please remember each one and our firefighters in your prayers.

Congratulations Hi-Pine Volunteer Fire Department!
We are excited to see another hard working and deserving Clay County volunteer fire department receive this grant.

🚒 Big News! The Hi-Pine Volunteer Fire Department is excited to announce that it is one of 150 volunteer fire departments across the nation to receive a $10,000 grant through the State Farm Good Neighbor Firefighter Safety Program. In collaboration with the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC), State Farm has awarded $1.5 million in grants to help local fire departments obtain needed equipment to increase their responders safety, effectiveness and ability to serve their community.

With this grant, Hi-Pine VFD will be able to purchase new hose and nozzles for the pumper truck, new radios for members, and other much needed equipment.

We to thank State Farm and National Volunteer Fire Council for all their efforts and helping volunteer fire departments across the nation.

Apparently, the trees in Shinbone Valley missed the memo that Sunday mornings are for sleeping until 7:00 a.m. and then heading to church! 😂🌳

For the second Sunday morning in a row, we’ve had a tree down to start our morning. I’m beginning to think these trees are just trying to make sure we don’t sleep through church! 😂

All jokes aside, we are truly blessed with our fire family. We may get called out at the craziest times, but there’s something special about serving alongside people who will drop what they’re doing to help their community.
And in just a few hours, we’ll meet back up again—not for a tree this time, but for Sunday School. ❤️🙏

Thankful for this fire family and the people who make Shinbone Valley feel like home! 🚒❤️
