THIS IS WHAT VOLUNTEERS DO

In recent months, local volunteers have responded to fires, vehicle crashes, water rescues, floods, wildland incidents, utility emergencies, and medical calls.

These are your neighbors leaving dinner, family time, work, and sleep to help someone who needs them.

That is what volunteerism looks like in a small town.

You do not have to wait for someone else to step up.

Send us a message to join.

NO EXPERIENCE? THAT’S FINE.

We do not expect new members to arrive knowing how to force a door, operate a pump, throw a ladder, or advance a hose line.

That is why we train.

We start with the fundamentals, pair new members with experienced firefighters, and build skills over time. Nobody walks through the door knowing everything.

Training is held every Thursday at 6:00 p.m., with occasional weekend training.

You bring the willingness. We will provide the training.

Shoot us a message to join.

FIREFIGHTERS HAVE DAY JOBS TOO

Our members are soldiers, mechanics, engineers, electricians, students, business owners, career firefighters, parents, and everything in between.

Most did not walk through the door already knowing how to be firefighters. They simply wanted to learn useful skills and help their neighbors.

You do not need a fire-service background. You need a willingness to learn, work with a team, and serve your community.

Think you might fit in? Reach out and meet the crew.

***Trench Collapse***

At 1:22 PM RDVFD responded to a Tone Out for an Entrapment by Family Medical Center called in by a friend.

Six Volunteers and the Rescue responded along with the Delta Junction Volunteer Fire Department and Alaska State Troopers.

First arriving personnel made contact with the caller and found a trench being cleared for construction had collapsed on workers. Due to the scope of this call and the lack of capable equipment FT Greely Mutual aid was requested.

Once resources were gathered boundary lines were created and crews got to work clearing loads of dirt in the way and creating a path to allow responders to enter without also becoming trapped. Once heavy equipment was finished responders used shovels to clear and gain access.
RDVFD cleared around 5pm with DJVFD after the scene was secured.
Temperature was 70°F / wind 3mph

----- We would like to give a special thank you to Grizzly Construction for their support on this call. Their support saved our Responders hours of shoveling and helped us work faster -------

YOUR TOWN. YOUR NEIGHBORS. YOUR CALL.

Structure fires. Vehicle rescues. Wildland fires. Flooding. Backcountry rescues.

These are not stories from another department in another state. They happened here, and local volunteers answered the call.

Your fire department is made up of ordinary people who decided their community was worth showing up for.

No experience is required. We will train you.

Your town. Your neighbors. Your call.

Send us a message to learn more.
