From live music and mouthwatering BBQ to hands-on art activities and meaningful community connections, the Spady Cultural Heritage Museum was filled with energy, creativity, and fun.

Guests enjoyed a fantastic performance by Morgan Joyce Hart, delicious food from Ceasars Famous Ribs, and interactive experiences with talented Creation Station artists Shanna Woods, Terez Duncanson ( Blissfully Unapologetic), and Nicole Escalera.

With support from Kaleidoscope Solutions & Co., Peregrine Consultants, and the City of Delray Beach Parks & Recreation, the day brought together families, artists, and community members for a memorable celebration of culture and connection.

Did you know Pearl City was one of the first established African American neighborhoods in Boca Raton?

Founded in 1915, Pearl City became a vibrant and self-sufficient community with its own churches, businesses, schools, and gathering places during a time when opportunities were limited by segregation.

More than a century later, its history continues to be an important part of Boca Raton's story and the broader cultural heritage of Palm Beach County.

"These guys are not your enemy" ๐Ÿ’ฌ

Joe Bernadel shares a powerful perspective on how fear and misunderstanding can sometimes create divisions between communities that have far more in common than they realize.

Rather than viewing one another as competition, he encourages students and families to see the value of collaboration, shared experiences, and working together toward a better future.

Stronger communities are built through understanding, respect, and a willingness to move forward together โค

We're going to miss this group from our Black History Study Season 2 ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿพ

For many students, the Black History Study program became more than a class. It became a space for connection, confidence, and community.

Through collaborative discussions and shared learning experiences, participants not only deepened their understanding of Black history, but also built meaningful relationships with each other and their instructors.

Season 2 created memories and lessons that will stay with students long after graduation.

Roosevelt Junior-Senior High School stands as one of Palm Beach Countyโ€™s most important historic and cultural landmarks.

Opened in 1950 as the successor to Industrial High School, the countyโ€™s first high school for African Americans, Roosevelt became a cornerstone of the Northwest community and helped shape generations of Black professionals, educators, doctors, lawyers, engineers, and community leaders.

Today, the historic campus is undergoing restoration efforts led by the Roosevelt Alumni Association, Palm Beach County Schools, and community leaders, with plans for adult education spaces, a Black history museum, and a library.

๐ŸŽ–๏ธ This Memorial Day, we remember not just the battles fought overseas but the community that showed up for those who served.

This photo captures a moment at the Naciremas Club in Delray Beach, and the name itself tells a story. Naciremas is simply Americans spelled backwards, a quietly defiant nod to a country that asked Black men to serve but offered them little in return.

Founded in 1946 as World War II drew to a close, the club stepped in to fill a painful gap. When the Delray USO shut down its programming, Black servicemen stationed at the Boca Raton Army Air Field were left without the social and recreational support their white counterparts enjoyed. The Naciremas Club became that space, a place of belonging, dignity, and community.

To all who served, and to the communities that held them: we remember. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ
