DBPD Arrest Four in Auto Burglary and Auto Theft Investigation

This morning, the Delray Beach Police Department executed search warrants at four homes in the city as part of an ongoing investigation into auto burglaries and at least 14 auto thefts.
Four people were arrested, three of whom are juveniles.
During the search warrants, officers seized an AR-15 pistol, several loaded extended magazines with 9mm ammunition, five forms of identification belonging to auto burglary victims, and other stolen property.
There has been misinformation circulating that officers targeted the wrong home. That is not true. The search warrants were executed at the intended locations, and this was a successful operation.
“This investigation is another example of the Delray Beach Police Department’s commitment to identifying those responsible for crimes in our community and holding them accountable,” said Chief Darrell Hunter.
This operation was made possible with assistance from the Boynton Beach Police Department, Boca Raton Police Department, and Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office - South Florida Criminal Apprehension Team.
As a reminder, please lock your vehicle doors, remove valuables, and never leave keys of fi****ms inside your vehicle.

We had a fantastic evening with the Pineapple Grove Run Club.
Chief Darrell Hunter had a great time connecting with members of the club and running alongside such an incredible group of people. The energy, positivity, and community spirit were amazing from start to finish.
Thank you to everyone who came out, including participants from as far north as Jupiter and as far south as Miami. We appreciate the opportunity to connect with our community in such a meaningful way.

DBPD Crime Prevention Tip

Staying safe in public places starts with being aware of your surroundings. Whether you're shopping, dining out, or running errands, keep your head up and your phone down. Take note of entrances, exits, people around you, and anything that doesn't feel right.
Keep your personal items close, never leave valuables unattended, and trust your instincts. If something seems suspicious, move to a safe place and call 911 if needed.
Your safety starts with awareness.

Interested in a future in law enforcement?

The Delray Beach Police Department invites young people ages 14 to 20 to attend our Police Explorer Open house on 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at the Seacrest Training Facility, located at 2350 Seacrest Blvd. in Delray Beach.
The DBPD Police Explorer program gives participants an inside look at the law enforcement profession while helping them build leadership, confidence and job readiness skills. Explorers learn the basics of police work, take part in community events, complete in law enforcement competitions, participate in scenario-based training and much more.
This is a great opportunity for Delray Beach residents who are interested in law enforcement, public service or simply want to learn more about what it takes to serve the community.

Delray Beach Police Department Memorial Ceremony 2026

Each year, the men and women of the Delray Beach Police Department gather at the marble memorial in front of our department to honor two officers who gave their lives in service to our community.
Officer John Kennedy was shot and killed on Oct. 10, 1974, while sitting in his patrol car writing a report. He left behind five children and an expectant wife.
On Feb. 17, 2011, Sgt. Adam Rosenthal, a father of four, was on his way to work when he was killed in a car crash.
Together with the Kennedy and Rosenthal families, we paused to remember their sacrifice and the sacrifice of all law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty.
We are grateful to the families, colleagues, city leaders and community members who joined us for this year’s DBPD Police Memorial Ceremony. Their service will never be forgotten.
