As we enter hurricane season June 1st, Delray Beach Fire Rescue is reminding local businesses to take steps now to stay prepared and resilient.

Hurricanes can disrupt power, communications, supply chains, and daily operations. Business owners should identify potential vulnerabilities, create or review a hurricane plan with employees, secure property early, protect windows, elevate electronics, back up critical files, and review insurance coverage, including wind, flood, and business interruption policies.

Businesses should also know their evacuation or flood zone, stay informed through emergency alerts, and document any damage before reopening after a storm.

Prepared businesses recover faster. Take action now and stay prepared this hurricane season.

This week, our team was honored to take part in Delray Reads at Orchard View Elementary School. We helped prepare summer reading packets for second graders, complete with chapter books and fun activities to keep them learning over the break. We also enjoyed spending time with the students and sharing a great activity together.

On this Memorial Day, we pause to remember the courageous individuals who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation. Delray Beach Fire Rescue honors their service and extends gratitude to those who gave everything for our freedom. Their courage and dedication will never be forgotten.

UPDATE: The train is moving again. Railroad crossings are open to traffic.

Previous post:
TRAFFIC ALERT: A stopped train is currently blocking several FEC railroad crossings from NE 2nd Street to SE 10th Street.
Affected crossings include SE 10th Street, SE 4th St, SE 2nd St, SE 1st St, E. Atlantic Ave, and NE 2nd St.
The crossings should reopen by 10:30 a.m.

National Beach Safety Week continues, and today's reminder is all about knowing before you go.

Safety Tip #2: Pay attention to beach warning flags and water conditions.

Condition can change quickly. Rip currents, rough surf, lightning, marine life, and other hazards may not always be obvious from the shoreline. Beach warning flags are there to help you understand the current risks before entering the water.

Before swimming, look for posted signs, check the flag color, and ask a lifeguard if you are unsure what the conditions mean. A few seconds of awareness can make a big difference.

It's National Beach Safety Week, and Delray Beach Fire Rescue is sharing simple tips to help everyone stay safe at the beach

Swim Near a Lifeguard

Lifeguards are trained to spot hazards, respond quickly in emergencies, and help keep beachgoers safe. Before you get in the water, take a moment to locate the nearest lifeguard tower and pay attention to any posted beach conditions or flags.

A safe beach day starts with smart choices. When in doubt, check with a lifeguard first.

This week, Delray Beach Fire Rescue proudly recognizes EMS Week and the incredible men and women who provide lifesaving care to our community every day.
From medical emergencies and critical incidents to moments when patients and families need comfort most, our EMS professionals respond with skill, compassion and dedication. Their work often happens in some of the most stressful moments of someone's life-- and they meet those moments with professionalism and heart.

Delray Beach Fire Rescue was proud to welcome members of Leadership Delray for Public Safety Day on Tuesday.
Leadership Delray is a year-long program that gives participants an inside look at the people, places, and systems that help shape Delray Beach and Palm Beach County.
During their visit, members had the opportunity to learn more about DBFR’s role in protecting the community, responding to emergencies, and serving residents through an all-hazard model.
We appreciate the group’s interest in public safety and their commitment to leadership, community connection, and making a positive impact in Delray Beach.
