Weather conditions are expected to worsen throughout the day, bringing an increased risk of coastal flooding, heavy rainfall, and strong wind gusts. Wind gusts may exceed 40 mph along the coastline, creating hazardous marine conditions, rough surf, and dangerous rip currents.

⚠️ Please take these precautions:
✅ Avoid flooded roadways and low-lying areas.
✅ Move vehicles from flood-prone locations.
✅ Secure loose outdoor furniture, decorations, trash bins, and other loose items.
✅ If thunderstorms move into the area, seek shelter indoors immediately.

✅ Stay out of the ocean and away from seawalls and areas experiencing rough surf.

The City of Delray Beach is closely monitoring inclement weather expected throughout the weekend. The safety of our residents, visitors, and business community remains our top priority.
Periods of heavy rain, gusty winds, and possible coastal flooding due to elevated tides and King tides could impact our area.
If you're attending local events or spending time outdoors this weekend, stay weather-aware and use caution.

Here are a few ways to prepare:
✅ Avoid parking vehicles in low-lying streets or flood-prone areas.
✅ Secure outdoor furniture, trash bins, decorations, and other loose items.
✅ Keep storm drains near your property clear of debris, when safe to do so.

🚒 Training Together. Responding Stronger.

This week, Delray Beach Fire Rescue joined fire departments from Martin, Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade counties for a multi-agency hazardous materials training exercise.
The exercise simulated a railcar incident involving multiple chlorine leaks and victims, helping participating agencies strengthen coordination, communication, and emergency response skills.
Working together and training together ensures we're prepared to protect the communities we serve.

Update October 22, 2026: The Florida Department of Health Palm Beach County has lifted the HEALTH ADVISORY today after water quality in our beach was tested and found to be within a good range. Swimming is now open.

A No Swim Advisory is now in effect at beaches in Delray Beach, though the beach itself will be open. Ocean access will be restored when the water quality returns to normal.

Closed shutters may block an emergency escape route for you and your family and can make it more difficult for firefighters to quickly access your home during an emergency.
When a hurricane watch or warning threatens, secure your home.
When the threat has passed, open your shutters and make sure your escape routes remain accessible.
Storm protection should never become a fire safety hazard.
