The implementation of the City of Delphi Golf Cart Ordinance reflects significant effort and dedication by city officials to balance public interest with safety and regulation.

The ordinance required careful planning, including defining equipment standards, establishing liability insurance requirements, creating an application process, and setting clear rules for operation and enforcement. This hard work ensures that residents can safely and responsibly use golf carts and UTVs on city streets.

However, the ordinance's success depends on compliance from operators. If individuals continue ignoring the rules, such as failing to obtain permits, adhere to equipment standards, or follow designated routes and times, it could undermine the ordinance's purpose and lead to its removal. Noncompliance risks public safety and the integrity of the system, potentially forcing the city to reconsider allowing golf carts and UTVs on its streets.

**This will be the City of Delphi's final effort, ensuring compliance involving the golf cart ordinance.**

On 12-22-24 Carroll County E911 received multiple 911 calls about a wrong way vehicle driving southbound in the northbound lanes of State Road 25. Officer Reef responded and was thankfully able to get the vehicle stopped near State Road 218. During this specific weekend there were 4 wrong way drivers on State Road 25, 2 of which were intercepted by Officer Reef.

Thank you to the citizens that called 911 and provided accurate information that resulted in this vehicle being stopped before anyone was hurt!

🎄DPD and USPS save Christmas 🎄

The Delphi Police Department recently responded to a call for service of a theft in the 400-blk of N Washington St. The victim advised they just moved to the area and their family from Kentucky mailed them Christmas gifts and cash. The victims advised they went to the Post Office and the package was confirmed delivered. Officers followed up with the carrier in charge of the route. The vigilant mail carrier was able to identify a possible suspect. The porch pirate was located with the packages undisturbed in their vehicle!

Good work to everyone involved 🫡

🏡 Vacation House Check Program 🏡

Going out of town for the holidays? Let DPD know and we will help keep an eye on your residence!

Once you answer a few simple questions your residence will be added to our extra patrol list. As call volume allows an Officer will stop by and check for suspicious activity, vehicles that don't belong, open doors, or broken windows.

There is no charge for this service and it is meant to supplement your primary home security measures such as:
Securing doors and windows 🔒
Adequate lighting 💡
Cameras 🎥
Alarm systems 🚨

Earlier this year Giovanni had his bike stolen. When the City of Delphi, Indiana held our Christmas party at El Rinconcito Mexican restaurant en Delphi Indiana Officer Dennis talked with Giovanni and learned that his bike had not been replaced or recovered yet. Officer Dennis took up donations from DPD Officers and bought him a new bike!

Thanks to Jose, Orlando, Giovanni, and the whole El Rinconcito crew for always being so good to our Officers 🫡

DPD squad cars have multiple aftermarket systems inside of them. Lights, sirens, computer, scanner, printer, radar, camera, radio, power timer, equipment chargers, and more. When the new squad cars were built we worked to integrate these systems to work together as much as possible.

The Axon Fleet 3 cameras integrate many of these systems including our Kustom Signals, Inc. radar units. This feeds radar information directly in to the in car camera system as an overlay.

T - target speed
L - lock
P - patrol speed
F/R - front or rear antenna

In this example Unit 120 was parked facing southbound along 421 in the school zone. They obtained an approaching vehicle's speed of 55mph. In car cameras already create valuable evidence, but this information being recorded on the in car video is such a great enhancement!

🚧 Traffic Tip Tuesday 🚧

Today's Tip comes from our friends at the Delphi Post Office 📬 They would like to remind you that their lot is employee parking only and violators can be towed. They've also had mail carriers almost get hit by vehicles cutting through their lot, so please slow down if you have to be in their lot for some reason.
