Today, our hearts are heavy as we mourn the loss of one of our fellow firefighters who tragically lost his life while responding to a call.

There are few bonds stronger than the one shared between firefighters. We answer the call together, stand beside one another in difficult moments, and put our lives on the line to protect the people and communities we serve.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, his brothers and sisters in the fire service, and everyone in his community who knew and loved him.

May he rest in peace, and may we never forget his sacrifice.

Rest easy, Brother. We’ll take it from here. 🚒🙏

Congratulations to all the teams who participated in the Water Fights!

A special congratulations to the Delcambre Volunteer Fire Department on taking home the win!

Y’all put in the work, showed up ready to compete, and brought home the victory! Proud of everyone who participated and represented their departments. It was a great day of competition, teamwork, and fellowship.

A big thank-you as well to all the teams who competed: Erath Vol Fire Department , Mire Volunteer Fire Department, and Meaux/Nunez Vol Fire Dept.

With festival season arriving, Sheriff Eddie Langlinais and the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office remind residents and businesses that Louisiana’s 2025 “We Will Act” Act established stricter regulations for drone operations over crowds and public events.

Consistent with the safety measures implemented during last year’s festival, the area shown in red and outlined in yellow has been designated as the “Drone No-Fly Zone” for the Delcambre Shrimp Festival, which runs from August 12–16, 2026. Law enforcement drones will operate throughout the festival to monitor activities and help maintain a safe environment.

Properly credentialed businesses, photographers and videographers may still operate drones with prior authorization. Anyone wishing to fly over the festival grounds must contact VPSO in advance to register and coordinate flight plans with our law enforcement drone pilots.

This joint safety effort is supported by the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office, Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office, and Delcambre Police Department , who all work together to ensure the safety of all who attend the Delcambre Shrimp Festival.

We are deeply saddened by this loss and keep their family, friends, and all of the dispatchers and staff in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Residents are encouraged to continue calling 911 if they have an emergency.
