During a recent training day, our Accident Reconstruction Team was sharpening their skills on the operation of our Total Station mapping equipment when a serious motor vehicle crash occurred at US‑23 and S. Sandusky Street. Our officers immediately transitioned from training to real‑time application, using this technology to accurately document the scene.

As a full‑service law enforcement agency, the Delaware, Ohio Police Department maintains the tools and specialized training needed to investigate even the most complex crashes, ensuring thorough and professional service to our City of Delaware, Ohio - Government community.

US 36 (E WILLIAM ST) BACK OPEN

Earlier this evening (3/22/26), US 36 (E. William St.) was fully re-opened to thru traffic between US 42 (Lake St.) and SR 37 at the Point. All railroad work requiring road closures has been completed ahead of schedule and no additional detours will occur this week as previously planned.

Left turns to and from E. Winter St. to the west of Lake St. are back open. However, E. Winter St. between Lake St. and Potter St. will remain closed while rail work is taking place to accommodate the contractor’s work and staging areas.

Throughout last week, City crews took advantage of the road closure and adjusted numerous utility castings to be flush with the pavement surface. Motorists travelling westbound along E. William St. will notice a big improvement in rideability.

Kudos to CSX and Winn Construction for collaborating with City of Delaware, Ohio - Government to limit impacts to traffic as much as possible and completing the work ahead of schedule.
