In session this morning, our Delaware County, OHIO, Sheriff's Office shared news of two major achievements. Our Jail has achieved accreditation from the National Commission on Correctional Health Care, making us one of fewer than 24 correctional facilities nationwide to achieve this standard. This accreditation recognizes that we meet national standards of excellence for both physical and mental healthcare services.
We also learned that the DCSO has earned a $500,000 grant from the Office of Ohio Attorney General Andy Wilson for their Medication-Assisted Treatment program. The OAG grant will provide funding over the next 24 months for a program that provides critical medications, coordinates treatment and recovery services, and facilitates access to care after release.
Lives are being saved: In 2024, 57 individuals received MAT care. In 2025, 144 individuals did. And from September 2025 through September 2026, 312 individuals did. This program, part of our overall Stepping Up Initiative, is preventing overdoses, reducing recidivism and improving community safety.
Congratulations, Team DCSO!
